Manchester United might sell Marcus Rashford for £120 million with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid keen on the player, and they are tracking Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as David de Gea's eventual replacement. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest are hoping to find a new club for Harry Arter, and Chelsea will soon agree a deal for PSG striker Neymar.

Rashford says Manchester United need to refocus for Old Trafford

United name £120m price for Rashford

Marcus Rashford is out of contract at Manchester United in the summer of 2024 and while they are keen to tie him down to a new deal worth £300,000 a week, the Mirror reports that, if that does not happen, they will make sure to raise a huge transfer fee from clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
“Manchester United are set to slap an eye-watering £120m price tag on star forward Marcus Rashford in a bid to fight off interest from a number of European rivals, it has been claimed,” the paper explains.
“The Red Devils’ academy graduate has enjoyed a stunning campaign this term, but there are currently fears over his future. Rashford has just a year-and-a-half remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford with concerns that he could move on.
“European giants Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid are leading the race for the striker’s services should he elect to move on in the near future. The Red Devils are putting plans in place in an effort to hold onto him though.
“It is suggested that United would only sell for a minimum of £120m - an amount that would make Rashford one of the most lucrative transfers of all time. He would be behind just six players in history - headline names including the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and recent Chelsea acquisition Joao Felix.”

United want Meslier to replace De Gea

Manchester United hope to also extend the stay of another player, goalkeeper David de Gea, but if they are unable to agree fresh terms, then they will move for Leeds United’s Illan Meslier. The 22-year-old could also be brought in this summer ahead of schedule if Leeds go down, and then they may have both players on the books for a period of time, according to the Sun.
The paper states: “The Red Devils will try to get Spanish No 1 De Gea, 32, to extend his stay and are working towards a compromise figure.
“They are prepared to keep his pay high — but not at £375,000-a-week as it stands.
“United also want to line up the keeper who will eventually take over.
“United are willing to wait until there is a starting place to offer Meslier. The complication will be if Leeds go down and Meslier is sold.”

Forest want rid of Arter

Harry Arter has not been looking for a move away from Nottingham Forest, despite the club wanting him to leave to get his wages off the books, and to free up space for additional signings in future.
The Mail explains that the 33-year-old has not played for the side in two years, with a couple of loan moves elsewhere, but Arter is currently content to remain at the City Ground on a contract that lasts another year and a half.
“Arter joined Forest from Bournemouth in September 2020 and made just 13 league appearances before falling out of favour under Chris Hughton,” the report says.
“The Republic of Ireland international is thought to currently be on £40,000-a-week after a clause in his contract allowed his wages to be doubled last summer.
“Arter, whose contract expires in 18 months, was told to find a new club last summer and in the January transfer window but a move failed to materialise, with the player said to have not pushed for a move.”

PSG ready to agree Chelsea deal for Neymar

Chelsea are close to agree a 60 million euro deal for Neymar, with the 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker no longer respected by many at the French club, with Spanish newspaper Marca reporting that they do not feel their record-breaking transfer outlay has provided them with value for money.
“The French side paid Barcelona the highest transfer fee in the history of football for Neymar and it is clear that he has failed to live up to expectations,” the outlet explains.
“The Brazilian has been the target of much criticism after the team's poor run of form, a moment that the club's sheikh has taken advantage of to try to move him on in the summer transfer window.
“Meetings with Chelsea have been going on for several months and are now gaining momentum.
“But this situation could change and, according to Le Parisien, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has had a meeting with Todd Boehly to try to place the former Santos player at Stamford Bridge in the next summer market for a price close to 60 million euros.”
