Barcelona are keen on signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho on loan, while Ryan Giggs may return to management at the club he part-owns, Salford City. Elsewhere, Sheffield United could replace Paul Heckingbottom with former manager Chris Wilder, and Everton's proposed £500 million takeover by 777 Partners is coming under some severe scrutiny.

Barcelona linked with Sancho move
The Mirror reports that Barcelona are the latest team to be linked with a swoop for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
The paper writes: “Barcelona are weighing up a shock loan move for Manchester United cast-off Jadon Sancho in the January transfer window.
“Winger Sancho took to social media to refute boss Erik ten Hag's claim he was left out of the squad for United's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal because of poor training performances. Sancho was banished from first-team training by Ten Hag and was dropped for United's game against Brighton on Saturday.
“Sancho’s spell at Old Trafford has been underwhelming since completing his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. He had emerged as one of the stars in the Bundesliga but has failed to replicate that form at United.
“They struggled to register loan signings Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix late in the summer transfer window, with further outgoings required before any new players arrive. It would appear fanciful that they could fund Sancho’s wages this season without at least one major departure.”
Giggs set for management return
The Sun believes Ryan Giggs could return to management with the club he part-owns, Salford City.
According to the outlet, “Ryan Giggs is ready to step up and return to management if results do not improve at Salford City.
“Giggs has been out of work since leaving the Wales job but is taking an active interest in the League Two club he part-owns.
“And the Manchester United legend, 49, could be pushed back into the dugout if Neil Wood does not get Salford into contention for the play-offs.
“The Ammies’ ambitious backers are frustrated at their inability to win promotion - and may look within their own ranks.”
Sheffield United may bring Wilder back
Chris Wilder could be in line for a comeback at Sheffield United with Paul Heckingbottom’s position already under threat.
“Sheffield United are considering a move to bring Chris Wilder back to Bramall Lane after their winless run extended to five games in the late defeat against Tottenham,” the Daily Mail explains.
“Mail Sport understands that Paul Heckingbottom’s position is in serious jeopardy, with United 17th in the table following four defeats and a solitary point against Everton prior to the international break.
“Sources say Wilder has already been sounded out about a return to the club, where he achieved great success between 2016 and 2021. In that time, he led them out of League One before securing promotion to the Premier League in 2019.”
Everton takeover in jeopardy
The Telegraph reports that the proposed takeover of Everton could already be in doubt.
The paper states: “Everton’s takeover by 777 Partners could come under threat after an investigation was launched following concerns raised about the firm’s investment in British basketball.
“Telegraph Sport can reveal that on Friday, the same day a deal was announced for 777 to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in Everton, the British Basketball Federation began a review connected with the American firm’s co-ownership of the British Basketball League.
“The probe relates to late payments made by 777 to the BBL this year that left the latter in danger of failing to pay its bills and triggered a complaint by seven of the league’s 10 clubs to the BBF.
“The outcome of the review could have major implications for the Everton takeover, which is subject to the prospective buyers passing the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test.”
