With Manchester United currently relying on Marcus Rashford to play through the middle or for Anthony Martial to stay fit for a season, Erik ten Hag says that the club are currently making "progress" in the transfer window as they look for a replacement striker. He would not comment when asked if he would be interested in bringing in Kylian Mbappe on loan.

Erik ten Hag says that Manchester United are making “progress” in their hunt for a striker, but refused to comment on a move for PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is up for sale after making it clear he would not sign a new deal at Parc des Princes, ahead of an anticipated 2024 free transfer to Real Madrid, he has been linked to a £259m move to Al Hilal.
Meanwhile, United are in need of a striker after seeing Cristiano Ronaldo leave at the end of 2022, and Wout Weghorst failing to make the grade.
While they have recruited Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan, Rasmus Hojlund is not yet at Old Trafford, and there is rumoured to be rival interest from PSG.
"We make progress, yeah," Ten Hag said when asked about United's attempt to land a forward. "But you know how it works - when we have him, we will tell you directly.
"The only thing I can say is we do everything that's in our power to get that done. If it was up to me, yeah, as soon as possible. The earlier the better because we have to integrate him in the team, the way of play.
"In an ideal situation, he was already here but you do not always get ideal situations as a manager and you have to deal with the situation."
When asked if he could be interested in Mbappe, he answered: "We never speak about players who are under contract in other clubs."
