Tuesday’s Paper Round leads on Harry Maguire, who wants more than twice the payout Manchester United are offering before agreeing to join West Ham. Elsewhere, Chelsea will prioritise selling once they have beaten Liverpool to a second midfielder, Manchester United want another Amadou Onana, and Al-Hilal will target Aleksandar Mitrovic again after signing Neymar.

West Ham’s Maguire doubts

West Ham are doubtful a move for Harry Maguire will materialise, with The Sun reporting that the defender is seeking a £15m payout from Manchester United, £9m more than he was initially offered. West Ham had been hoping to seal a £30m transfer for the England international, but are now said to be looking at alternatives after Maguire’s demands with his current club.
The Sun adds: “Maguire would have to reduce his wages from £190,000 a week to £120,000 - which would come to a shortfall of £14.5m over a four-year contract.
“He already has two years left of his current deal at Old Trafford which would be worth £19.7million.”

Chelsea to sell after signing Lavia

Chelsea will be aware of their need to sell players in the final weeks of the transfer window after they sign Romeo Lavia, who is expected to follow in the footsteps of Moises Caicedo by choosing the Blues over Liverpool. A deal of £50m plus add-ons for Southampton’s Lavia would take Chelsea past £900m on players since their takeover last year, and that will prompt outgoings in the final fortnight of the summer window.
The Independent writes: “While the spending has inevitably been the subject of a lot of discussion at the top levels of clubs, just as it has been in the wider game, there has been no contact with the Premier League about it. Chelsea are likely to still have a number of outgoings in the two weeks left of the window - although that does raise the issue of clubs knowing they need to sell.
“The Premier League are expected to change their rules to bring them in line with Uefa's, closing a loophole that allows transfer fees to be spread over a longer-period and setting a limit at five years, but that will not affect the last year's spending. The regulations are also dependent on the year-end date for signings and which year the transactions go into.”

Man Utd want another Onana

Manchester United are looking into the prospect of signing Amadou Onana but Everton’s valuation of the player could depend on the final fee agreed by Southampton for Chelsea and Liverpool target Romeo Lavia, the Daily Mail reports. United remain in the hunt for a new midfielder and have held talks with Everton over signing the 21-year-old Belgian, who has six international caps and only joined the Toffees from Lille last year, but Everton are not interested in a player exchange being part of any offer. They could end up demanding more than £60m, the amount Lavia could join Chelsea for imminently.
The Mail added: “Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat is United's other midfield option but they are also looking to bring in a centre-back and a goalkeeper.
“Onana has four years remaining on his contract at Everton and started their opening game of the season against Fulham. Amrabat, meanwhile, was hugely impressive for Monaco at last year's World Cup.”

Al-Hilal back in for Mitrovic

Al-Hilal will reignite their pursuit of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic once they complete the signing of Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, the Evening Standard reports. Mitrovic had agreed personal terms with the Saudi Pro League side, which would see him triple his £120,000-a-week wages, but was left frustrated after Fulham rejected a £35m offer for the 28-year-old – the Cottagers are holding out for £50m.
The Evening Standard adds: “Al-Hilal walked away from talks but, having made the breakthrough to sign Neymar from PSG for around £80m, have again restarted talks to bring in a forward alongside him.
“Mitrovic has reassured his suitors that he has avoided injury despite being pictured arriving back in London on crutches after his substitute appearance in the 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday.”
