Jadon Sancho has rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United until the end of the 2023/24 season. Sancho left the Bundesliga club in 2021 for Old Trafford, where he played 82 times, scored 18 goals and registered six assists. Sancho’s move ends an ongoing dispute between the player and United manager Erik ten Hag, which has seen Sancho absent from the first-team squad since August.

'I felt like it was the right decision' - Sancho returns to Dortmund from Man Utd on loan

Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan, two-and-a-half years after he left the Bundesliga club for Manchester United.
The England winger has signed a loan deal until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, said in a statement on the club's website: "Jadon is an absolute difference player and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon. He knows this city, Signal Iduna Park, our fans and our club.
"Even though he hasn't played any competitive games in the past few months, we are sure that he will quickly settle back in with us, get into top form and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season.
Sancho added: "When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like 'coming home'. I know the club inside and out, I've always been very close with the fans here, and I've never lost contact with those in charge.
"I can’t wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League."
Sancho fell out of favour at United under manager Erik ten Hag and hasn’t featured for the club since August in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
Sancho’s relationship with Ten Hag reached breaking point when the Dutch coach criticised his performances in training.
The player denied the claims from Ten Hag and wrote on social media: "I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue."
Sancho refused to apologise, which saw him dropped from the squad and forced to train away from the first team as the disciplinary issue remains unresolved.
Since his £73 million move from the German club in 2021, Sancho has represented United 82 times and contributed to 18 goals in total, scoring 12 times and providing a further six assists.
He featured as a substitute in United’s 2-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Newcastle United to win his only piece of silverware with the club.
During his time in Dortmund, where he joined from Manchester City’s academy in 2017, he scored 50 goals and made 64 assists in 137 appearances.

Sancho scored in the 2019 German Supercup final and was named player of the match in a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich under Lucien Favre.
Two years later, he also helped Dortmund to DFB-Pokal success and scored twice in the final in a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig, with Erling Haaland also grabbing a brace.
Sancho’s acquisition will be a welcomed move in Dortmund with the club currently sitting fifth in the Bundesliga, 15 points adrift of leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
They’re six points shy of fourth spot, currently occupied by RB Leipzig.
