Manchester United are keeping track of Brighton's teenage striker Evan Ferguson as they prepare for future transfer activity, while midfielder Donny van de Beek looks set to stay at Old Trafford. Elsewhere Jonjo Shelvey may join Rizespor on loan from Nottingham Forest, while Shkodran Mustafi may rejoin Sampdoria on a free transfer, though there is competition.

United scouting Ferguson

Manchester United are tracking Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, according to the Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old is part of the group of players that United’s scouting network have monitored.
The paper writes: “United have been watching Ferguson and monitoring his progress but the same could be said of dozens of players.
“They are already working two windows ahead, which is pretty commonplace across the rest of the Premier League.
“For each position they ideally have three or more players on a list which they scout and regularly update.”

Shelvey set for Turkey switch

After struggling to find minutes with Nottingham Forest for much of the last six months, Jonjo Shelvey is poised to join Turkish side Rizepor, according to The Telegraph.
“Jonjo Shelvey is close to joining Turkish club Rizespor as he nears the end of his unhappy spell at Nottingham Forest,” the paper states.
“Shelvey is set to fly out to join the Super Lig club on loan for the season to bring his seven-month career with Forest to an end.
“Forest are naming their 25-man squad on Wednesday and working to move on other fringe players including £16 million signing Emmanuel Dennis.
“Shelvey, a former England international, has not been involved in Steve Cooper’s squad since April after a disagreement before Forest’s game at Liverpool, as reported by Telegraph Sport.”

Van de Beek set to stay

After rumours linking Donny van de Beek with a move away from Manchester United, it now appears that a move to the Turkish Super Lig is unlikely for the Dutch midfielder.
The Mirror reports: “Donny van de Beek has been registered in Manchester United 's 25-man Premier League squad after seeing a proposed transfer to Fenerbahce collapse.
“Van de Beek, 26, has struggled to make any sort of impression at Old Trafford since completing a £35million switch from Ajax back in 2020 and was expected to move on from the club in the summer transfer window.
“Reports in Turkey had outlined that Fenerbahce were weighing up a swoop for Van de Beek, however, it is now being claimed that the SuperLig giants are exploring other options.
“That means Van de Beek is now expected to stay at Old Trafford at least until the transfer window reopens in January; a development that has been reflected by the inclusion of the midfielder in Manchester United's official Premier League squad list.”

Mustafi could return to Sampdoria

Shkodran Mustafi and former Arsenal colleague Sokratis Papastathopoulos are both in with a chance of moving to Sampdoria.
“EX-ARSENAL star Shkodran Mustafi is set to be thrown a career lifeline by one of his former clubs - but an old team-mate is also vying for the same contract,” The Sun claims.
“The German international defender, 31, is a free agent after being released by Spaniards Levante this summer.
“Now he looks set to be offered an opportunity to resurrect his career at Sampdoria, whom he played for between 2012 and 2014.
“The Italian Serie A club have set their sights on Mustafi after losing a key centre-back for the rest of the season.
“Alex Ferrari suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in training at the weekend.
“However, Sampdoria could turn instead to Mustafi's fellow ex-Arsenal man Sokratis Papastathopoulos if the German fails to make the cut.”
