Villarreal aim to sign Pellistri

La Liga club Villarreal hope to sign Manchester United’s highly-rated winger Facundo Pellistri.
The 22-year-old has had two spell on loan with Alaves, and now Villarreal aim to bring him to Spain on a permanent deal.
“Villarreal have reignited their interest in Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri,” The Sun says.
“And the Spaniards hope they can get the Uruguay international on a permanent deal this month.
“Pellistri, 22, has never come close to a regular run for the Red Devils since arriving from his home country for around £9million in 2020.
“And he has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford this season despite seeing the likes of Antony and Marcus Rashford struggle in his position.”

Sancho set for United exit

Jadon Sancho’s time at United appears to be coming to a close imminently, at least for a loan spell.
The Mirror reports that the winger will return to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.
“Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is nearing a return to former club Borussia Dortmund, with the 23-year-old set to join on loan,” the paper explains.
“Sancho has been in exile at Old Trafford since a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag in September. Ten Hag told reporters that Sancho was not included in United's squad for their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal due to his ‘performance in training’.
“As a result, the winger was widely expected to leave in January and a deal has now been agreed for him to return to Dortmund.”

Henderson wants Premier League return

Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has failed to settle in Saudi Arabia and wants to return to England, according to the Daily Mail.
The return would cost him millions of pounds in tax if he fails to complete two years of his contract.
“Jordan Henderson is eager to return to the Premier League in a shock move that would cost him millions of pounds in tax and lost wages,” the Mail writes.
“The England midfield player has struggled to settle since completing a £12million transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq last summer and will seriously consider any offers the club receive this month.
“Henderson's problems have been compounded by Al Ettifaq's poor form, which has seen manager Steven Gerrard come under pressure from the owners following a dreadful run that has seen his side fail to win in eight matches stretching back to November.
“While Henderson's salary at Al Ettifaq has been widely reported as an extraordinary £700,000-a-week the tax-free element only applies if Henderson honours the first two years of his contract.
“With Saudi Arabia operating a flat income tax rate of 20 per cent returning to England after six months would leave Henderson with a tax bill of around £7m.”

Wolves want Ings on loan

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on signing Danny Ings on loan from West Ham.
The Premier League side are struggling to meet financial fair play regulations and therefore hope to land the player on a temporary deal.
The Telegraph states: “Wolves are targeting a net-zero transfer window this month and will prioritise loan signings, with West Ham’s Danny Ings emerging as a potential target.
“Gary O’Neil wants to sign a ‘No 9’ forward and a winger in the January window, with Wolves monitoring their finances closely to avoid breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules [PSR].
“Wolves feel vindicated in their cautious approach after Everton received a 10-point deduction in December, and with a number of other clubs walking a financial tightrope to avoid future punishment.
“With the club expected to announce financial losses of £65 million in the next few months, Wolves are determined to rein in their spending after a significant outlay last January.”
