Portugal international Bernardo Silva had been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window, but he has now signed a new contract with Manchester City until 2026. Pep Guardiola had said it would be his "dream" for Silva to extend his deal, and the 29-year-old is excited to be part of a "squad where there is such a hunger and passion".

Guardiola: New Bernardo Silva contract would be a 'dream'

Bernardo Silva has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal at Manchester City until 2026.
Silva, 29, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain with just one year remaining on his contract.
“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” said Silva, who joined City from Monaco in 2017.
“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.
“Success makes you want even more, and this club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.
"I love the manager, my team-mates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”
Silva has made 308 appearances for Manchester City and has been a key player under Guardiola.
He has scored 55 goals, including two in the 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of last season’s Champions League semi-finals.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the club.
“His quality and technical ability is fantastic - and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world.
“Bernardo was so important in our Treble-winning season and we are sure he can help deliver even more trophies in the next few years.”
Silva started Man City's opening game of the season against Burnley but then missed the UEFA Super Cup victory over Sevilla and win over Newcastle due to injury.
City next play Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday, August 27.
