Basel 1-3 Fiorentina: Serie A side score last-gasp winner in extra time to seal place in Europa Conference League final

There was drama as Fiorentina netted a last-gasp winner in added time of extra time to beat Basel 4-3 on aggregate and set up a Europa Conference League final against West Ham. Antonin Barak’s goal nine minutes into stoppage time sent the Serie A side through to play The Hammers in Prague on Wednesday, June 7. Fiorentina also have the Coppa Italia final against Inter Milan to come.

Fiorentina will play West Ham in the Europa Conference League final after beating Basel 3-1 on Thursday to secure a 4-3 win on aggregate.
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, a double by Nico Gonzalez either side of Zeki Amdouni’s strike sent the tie into extra time where Antonin Barak’s goal nine minutes into stoppage time sent the Serie A side through.
Gonzalez opened the scoring with a header from Cristiano Biraghi’s corner.
Basel restored their one-goal advantage on aggregate courtesy of Amdouni’s strike from a tight angle, but the drama was just about to begin.
A reaction finish from Gonzalez ensured there would be extra time and Fiorentina struck in the dying moments when Barak drilled in from close range.
The final will take place in Prague on Wednesday, June 7 and Fiorentina – currently occupying eighth place in Serie A – also have the Coppa Italia final against Inter on Wednesday, May 24.
West Ham defeated AZ Alkmaar 3-0 on aggregate to set up their first final in European competition in 47 years.
Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Roma advanced to the final after a 1-0 aggregate victory over Bayer Leverkusen following a 0-0 draw at the BayArena.
Jose Mourinho's side will meet record six-time winners Sevilla who beat Juventus 3-2 on aggregate.
