Jordan Pickford ended up on the winning team in Spain, but there are plenty who will argue it was down to a Polish referee rather than his England companions.

Rodrigo of Spain and Jordan Pickford of England tussle for the ball during the UEFA Nations League A Group Four match between Spain and England at Estadio Benito Villamarin on October 15, 2018 in Seville.

With Spain battling back to 3-1 behind around the hour mark and dominating possession, the home side seemed certain to make it 3-2 on the 62nd minute when Pickford was robbed in possession by Rodrigo.
As the Spanish player bounded towards goal, he was clearly hauled back by the England goalkeeper, who then made a desperate tackle to whack the ball behind for a corner.
It seemed a certain penalty, but the referee Szymon Marciniak instead opted for the corner, prompting a fair amount of fury among the home bench and on social media as England finally clung on for a 3-2 victory in Seville.
