CONTEXT

Antoine Griezmann piled the pressure on Joachim Low by scoring a second-half double as France beat Germany 2-1 in Paris.
Low's side had failed to score in their previous three competitive matches for the first time in their history, and they needed a questionable spot-kick to get off the mark against France in what proved to be a defeat.
Germany now cannot progress in the competition and it came after a dismal showing at the World Cup and a 3-0 loss to the Netherlands on Saturday.

LOW UNDER HUGE PRESSURE

The heat has again turned up a notch on Joachim Low. Germany were much the better side in the first-half and could have had the game wrapped up by the half-time break, but their soft centre was highlighted once more as they crawled into their shell after Griezmann's equaliser.

One goal in four and four defeats from their last six games is far from good enough and the responsibility ultimately lies at the door of the manager. Only months after their humiliation in Russia, Die Mannschaft are now staring at the embarrassing prospect of relegation in the Nations League.
This is clearly a team in disarray, suffering from a serious lack of confidence and seemingly with little faith in their manager. So, after 12 years in charge, is Low's time finally up? And if it is, who could be the replacement?

VIEW FROM GERMANY

No, Low’s time is definitely not up!
At the moment, we’re facing a strange situation, as the defeat against France is almost considered a victory in Germany. This is something you rarely see in Germany, as the team in the eyes of the media and fans has to win every single game.
Of course, a lot of fans would like to see Low replaced – this view was loud before the defeat in France but is getting quieter now.
The main point of criticism is that Low is not a friend of the radical change that needs to happen. He is hesitating to give young players like Leroy Sane, Julian Brandt or Serge Gnabry a real chance and still counts on World Cup veterans like Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller.

Against France, he made the changes (Sane, Gnabry, etc…) and now we are all wondering whether this was just to calm down the criticism or a real starting point for a “new” team. This is a crucial point when it comes to the question of for how much longer Low will be the national coach.
So far, there are no real options for a possible successor – but the media have started to speculate about Arsene Wenger, Matthias Sammer, Stefan Kuntz, Horst Hrubesch, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Felix Magath, Marcus Sorg, Miroslav Klose or Hannes Wolf taking over.
