Wolves accept Coady red card

Wolves will not appeal Conor Coady's red card against Brighton on Saturday.

The midfielder will now serve a three-match ban - starting at Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday - following his straight red in the 0-0 draw against the Sky Bet Championship leaders.

Coady was sent off by referee Jeremy Simpson following a second-half tackle on Liam Rosenior at Molineux but Wolves have now accepted the decision, despite head coach Kenny Jackett admitting he was initially surprised by the dismissal.

Jackett told the club's official site: "We won't be appealing.

"The video doesn't show that it is a clear mistake by the referee.

"I felt that with everything that went on in the game with different situations, I don't think it was the worst tackle in the game.

"But being able to appeal and get Conor off it isn't possible - the video doesn't give enough chance to say it was a deliberate mistake by the referee.

"We have to accept the referees' decision which is a hard one to take because Conor is a big player for us."
