England went into the Women's World Cup without injured trio Leah Williamson, Beth Mead and Fran Kirby, and they look to have suffered another injury setback as midfielder Keira Walsh went off against Denmark. Walsh seemed to injure her knee as she stretched for the ball and was taken off on a stretcher. She was replaced by Laura Coombs with England leading 1-0 through Lauren James' goal.

'Credit to Haiti' - Wiegman content with three points after England's nervy start to World Cup

England suffered another injury blow as Keira Walsh was carried off on a stretcher during their Women’s World Cup match against Denmark.
England went into the tournament without captain Leah Williamson and forwards Beth Mead and Fran Kirby due to injuries.
Barcelona midfielder Walsh could now be sidelined after appearing to land awkwardly when she stretched to intercept a pass.
Walsh signalled to the bench that she could not continue and then seemed to say to medical staff: “I’ve done my knee.”
She looked to be in tears as she was carried off on a stretcher.
"It did look serious so if you can’t walk off the pitch it’s serious,” said England head coach Sarina Wiegman.
"I haven’t heard anything yet. During the game you have to move on and now it is time to look at how she is and the next steps."
Walsh has been a key player for England under Wiegman and was named in the team of the tournament during last year’s Euro 2022 win.
She was replaced by Laura Coombs.
England won the Group D match 1-0 thanks to a brilliant goal from Lauren James.
They face China in their final group game on Tuesday in Adelaide.
Walsh had revealed ahead of the match against Denmark that she had been asked by Wiegman to become more of a leader on the pitch.
“That’s something Sarina has been pushing me on,” she said.
“Maybe it’s just solving the pictures on the pitch and coaching a little bit more. I wouldn’t say I’m the loudest, so it doesn’t come naturally to me. But it’s something she wants me to improve on.
"I’m one of the more experienced ones in terms of being at tournaments and winning the Champions League, so players do automatically look at that, but it’s a team full of leaders and it doesn’t matter if you’ve played one game or 50.
"We listen to each other and respect each other’s opinions. I think that’s what’s so special about this team."
