Luis Suarez reveals 'bet with Neymar' ahead of Uruguay clash with Brazil

Suarez said “we always make jokes at Barcelona” and made it clear that whoever loses the bet “will be hearing it from the other”.

Uruguay are currently two points ahead of Brazil, but with the bet now out in the open, it is apparent that there is more at stake than just Friday’s match in Recife.

"I have a bet with Neymar. The winner gets a burger,” Suarez revealed at a Uruguay press conference.

"He is a great team-mate and we always make jokes at Barcelona.

"But whoever will win this game will be enjoying himself and he who loses will be hearing it from the other.

"Above all, we are team-mates and friends,” he continued. "We will both be trying to give our all for our own team and our country.

"Neymar knows me very well, but I also know him very well. Everything is different on the pitch, though.

"All rivals know how each opponent plays, but things always pan out differently on the pitch and you have to deal with it."

It is clear to any observer how happy Suarez is at Barcelona and his team-mates have frequently spoken of how well he has fitted in at Camp Nou. Friday’s match will be his first for Uruguay since his nine-game ban for biting at the 2014 World Cup, but he really does seem to have become a more mature and calm individual – something not difficult to achieve when playing in an all-conquering club side.
