The Paris St Germain star, 33, is currently in the United States with his club on a pre-season tour and admits the thought of playing in America is an idea he likes.
"I would like to play in the US, absolutely," Ibrahimovic was quoted as saying by beIN SPORTS.
The Swede is contracted to PSG until 2016 and is expected to leave the French champions at the end of that deal.
"I think (playing in MLS) would be an amazing experience," Ibrahimovic added.
"I see that soccer is growing a lot in the US. I was here 10 years ago and soccer was not on the level that it is today, but it's growing.
"It's growing in the right direction and I want it to be on the level of Europe. It will come here."
The league has increasingly managed to attract some big names from the European game in recent years, albeit largely in the twilight of their careers. David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Andrea Pirlo and Thierry Henry are just four who have made the move Stateside in the past.
OUR VIEW
A player of Ibrahimovic’s status declaring interest in an MLS move would have been a huge fillip to the league. The MLS is on the rise and Ibrahimovic’s declaration is still news but certainly not revelatory stuff. The league now boasts Andrea Pirlo, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, David Villa and Kaka.
Kaka and David Villa are just 33. More illustrative of the league’s growth are the arrivals of Giovani Dos Santos and Sebastian Giovinco. International calibre footballers are now moving to the MLS in the prime of their careers. It is becoming a league to be respected and one that will sooner rather than later have its fair share of star names like its counterparts in Spain, Germany and England.
