Robin Frijns will have his first Formula 1 outing during a grand prix weekend with Caterham when he drives in first practice in Bahrain.
The Dutchman, who joined Caterham as one of its reserve drivers for 2014, had already driven the team's new car during pre-season testing at Jerez and later at Sakhir.
He will replace one of Caterham's racing drivers in opening practice and will also be in action during one of the two testing days that will follow after the grand prix.
Frijns, a Sauber F1 reserve in 2013, said earlier this year he is focusing exclusively on his role with Caterham and does not plan to compete anywhere in 2014.
