Nico Rosberg left his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton trailing in his wake at the start of the Italian Grand Prix. Carrie Dunn takes a look at the race.

WHERE THE RACE WAS WON

Lewis Hamilton was left standing on the grid, allowing Nico Rosberg to move up from second and lead the race right until the end. To Rosberg's credit, he drove impeccably, but he was never really put under any real pressure after that first lap - the car is so impregnable that barring traffic he was comfortable for the win.

HAMILTON-WATCH

Two stars out of five. It might seem harsh to pass such judgement on the man who finished second, but he was the architect of his own downfall with such a poor start. He's also handed his team-mate the momentum in the drivers' championship - Rosberg is now just two points behind.

PIT RADIO EXCHANGE

Kimi Raikkonen is always good value, and this week he was complaining about vibration through his car when braking. Fortunately, Red Bull whippersnapper Max Verstappen kept clear of him after last week's drama, meaning there was no need for the liberal application of the bleep button.
So this week it's Fernando Alonso who wins in this category, screeching, "I don't know what that means!" when his race engineer suggested a particular strategy, and then laughing in the face of his team when they suggested that he push a bit harder to move towards Romain Grosjean in front of him.

MOVE OF THE RACE

The teamwork of the Ferraris at the start was impeccable, catching Hamilton in a pincer, with the quicker Sebastian Vettel cutting through to take second place. The joys of what you can achieve when there are colleagues working together! It's not so difficult to imagine certain other team-mates just running each other off the road there.

BEST OVERTAKE

Daniel Ricciardo is a regular winner in this category, and his pass on Valtteri Bottas to take fifth place was simply brilliant - perhaps the best piece of overtaking so far this season from anyone. His impressive speed brought him within touching distance of the Williams - and then his sheer courage took him into a deep dive into the chicane.
He was happy with that - although to be fair he is usually a man happy with his lot in life.

TACTICAL MASTERSTROKE

Great pit stopping from Mercedes - one stop for both of their drivers, finishing on the medium tyres, and ensuring their procession to the top two was as slick as possible.

UNSUNG HERO

We all give McLaren a lot of (deserved) stick because of the unreliability of their car in recent years, but credit where it's due - Fernando Alonso logged the quickest lap time of the race.

FACEPALM OF THE WEEKEND

Sebastian Vettel, distracted perhaps by his duties of keeping Hamilton and Rosberg separated after the race while endeavouring to make polite conversation with the pair of them, donned a cap that wasn't meant for him.
Still, as one of the Twitter observers pointed out: "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have."

STAR-SPOTTING

Italian fans are happy just to see the Ferraris on parade, and a driver on the podium makes it even better - no need for additional celebrity garnish. Still, the Scuderia did invite one other star into the garage this weekend - Olympic judo champion Fabio Basile.
