Whatever is said and written about his past travails and his previous attempts at a comeback, there is nothing quite like the 42-year-old contending for a championship.

And that's just what was happened on Sunday night as Woods won the season-ending Tour Championship by two shots from Billy Horschel.

It was his first title for five years and the crowd spilled out on to the 18th fairway, with his victory all but secured, to show their appreciation for the comeback by a player who was ranked 1,199 in the world a year ago after back surgery.

They chanted 'USA, USA!' and 'Tiger, Tiger!'
