Ronda Rousey has revealed it might be six months before she can even eat an apple again - never mind take a punch - as she recovers from her injuries after he surprise defeat to Holly Holm last month.
Rousey, the former UFC women's bantamweight champion, was beaten by knockout in a shocking defeat to Holm at UFC 193 on November 13.
After a kick to the jaw finally knocked a battered Rousey to the canvas and ended the fight, the 28-year-old was rushed to hospital - and, after undergoing surgery to repair some of the damage, has now admitted it could be a long time before she is passed fit enough to return to the Octagon.
"It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact," Rousey told ESPN,
That almost certainly scuppers the plans of UFC president Dana White, who recently suggested that he would look to book an immediate rematch between Holm and Rousey. If the latter fighter is sidelined until the second half of 2016, however, then it seems unlikely Holm will be made to wait for her next ring appearance.
Holm has previously said she is happy to give Rousey a rematch - and the 28-year-old is fully focused on making it back and regaining her belt.
"I need to come back. I need to beat this chick," Rousey said, before seeming to reveal the extent of the injuries suffered.
"Who knows if I'm going to pop my teeth out or break my jaw or rip my lip open again. I have to (expletive) do it. It doesn't matter. I have to do it."
On the first fight, she added: "I just feel so embarrassed.
"How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn't even (expletive) there."
