Tom Aspinall might not get a fight with Jon Jones anytime soon, but the pair have continued to exchange words on social media. After Aspinall posted a video on social media showing himself aging as he waits decades for the fight, Jones hit back at the interim heavyweight champion by saying he has "no clue who 90% of his résumé is". Aspinall responded by saying Jones is letting his "ego run wild".

Jon Jones has clapped back at Tom Aspinall after he again called out the UFC heavyweight champion.
Aspinall has been targeting a fight with Jones since claiming the interim heavyweight title at UFC 295.
However, it looks unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Jones has recently undergone elbow surgery and UFC president Dana White has said the “legacy fight” between Jones and Stipe Miocic will happen in 2024.
The clip seemingly got on Jones’ radar as he wrote on X: “Only four recognisable opponents, and already the king of England, must be nice.
“There will be legendary tales told about you and your infamous call-outs.”
In response to a comment that Aspinall can’t be blamed for being frustrated, Jones added: “I mean, it doesn’t really work like that.
“I was a champion when I was 23 years old, you can’t show up at age 30 pretending like you’ve been chasing me your whole life. I have no clue who 90% of his résumé is, meanwhile, I’ve been highlighting UFC events my entire career.
“It’s a wild world we live in! People can be so quick to try to replace you, throw you away, discredit your work. That’s the best thing about them stats or just being able to see the fruits of your labour.
“Be an absolute savage at what you do, at whatever capacity that may be. Let the work speak for itself, be undeniable in this world ladies and gentlemen. Be absolutely undeniable.”
Aspinall responded to Jones' comments by saying: "Jon you’re letting your ego run wild here mate.
"I’m not downplaying your résumé, it’s incredible. Far superior to mine. You are known as the best fighter ever, and that’s EXACTLY why I want to beat you. Surely you can understand that?"
Jones last fought in March 2023 when he beat Ciryl Gane at UFC 285.
He is recovering from the pectoral injury that saw him pull out of a fight with Miocic at UFC 295 and now also elbow surgery.
"Good news is that it's about a 10-week healing process," he said about the elbow operation on social media.
"I'm out for months anyway because of this pec surgery, so I just thought I'd kill two birds and get this elbow taken care of once and for all.
"Back on this recovery, still on this recovery journey. Sometimes you have to take a small step back in order to move forward, and I'm patient."
