BYE FOR NOW!

That's it for the Americas GP, thank you for your company throughout today's race.

MotoGP returns in two weeks from now for the GP of Spain at Jerez. See you then!

21:03

VINALES POST-RACE

'I was feeling everyone pushing me, I was feeling all the amazing support I had from all the fans here in America, it's been spectacular. What can I say, history made - I'm dreaming! I'm super happy; we need to keep working, obviously, I had an issue with the clutch, so that's one mistake and we need to be careful, but then the pace was amazing. I don't know how many overtakes I made!'

20:59

ACOSTA POST-RACE

'Regardless of the result, it was an incredible race. You can not imagine how much I enjoyed overtaking the boys and having fun with them. It was completely amazing. Like I said yesterday, we learned a lot from the boys that overtook me in the middle of the Sprint and I brought it into today. I knew it was a little bit risky to ride with the medium rear, but we have nothing to lose. I'm more than happy.'

20:54

BASTIANINI POST-RACE

'I think I can be happy today because all through this weekend I was suffering a lot. It's beautiful to be here. The start was incredible, but afterwards I lost some positions. In the middle of the race I tried to see what the pace was and I closed the gap to the front group. I'm very happy about this podium.'

20/20

VINALES WINS IN TEXAS

Vinales takes the chequered flag, doing the double in Texas and becoming the first rider ever to win GP races with three different manufacturers.

Acosta completes another impressive display in third while Bastianini rounds out the podium.

20/20

VINALES IN CONTROL

Vinales is in cruise control at the front and, barring disaster, the race is his. Acosta is in a lonely second place with Bastianini consolidating third.

19/20

BASTIANINI INTO THIRD

And there's the move from Bastinanini who gets better drive out of the corner and sweeps past Martin.

19/20

BASTIANINI CHARGES

Small error from Martin and Bastianini smells blood. There's nothing between them.

18/20

ACOSTA ON THE MOVE

Acosta is now taking some time out of Vinales, but the gap looks too big for him to turn things around.

17/20

GAPS NOW

The top five looks settled for the moment with gaps opening between the riders. It's Vinales, Acosta, Martin, Bastianini, Bagnaia.

16/20

MARTIN RESPONDS

Bastianini challenges Martin for third but can't make it stick. Instead, Martin responds and puts some air between himself and the factory Ducati.

15/20

FRONT SETTLES

There's some gaps now between Vinales and Acosta, and Acosta and his chasers. However, it's getting feisty between Martin and Bastianini for third.

14/20

VINALES CHECKS OUT

Incredible pace from Vinales who is checking out at the front.

13/20

VINALES HITS THE FRONT

Vinales now takes the lead and though Acosta tries everything, he can't find a way back through for now.

13/20

ACOSTA V VINALES

It's Acosta versus Vinales at the front of the field with the duo holding about a second over Martin in third.

12/20

VINALES ON THE MOVE

Vinales claims Martin to move into second and hunts down Acosta.

11/20

MARQUEZ OUT

Having just claimed the lead, M Marquez' front tyre folds at Turn 11 and down the Ducati goes. Acosta inherits the lead from Martin and Vinales.

11/20

MARQUEZ HITS THE FRONT

M Marquez now takes the lead through the opening turn.

Vinales has now caught the top three.

10/20

ACOSTA BACK IN THE LEAD

Unreal from Acosta who claims Martin for the lead. M Marquez capitalises to also move past the Pramac Ducati.

10/20

VINALES ON THE CHARGE

After a bit of back and forth, Vinales consolidates fourth ahead of Bagnaia.

9/20

ACOSTA RESPONDS

Martin is trying to break, but Acosta reels him back in with M Marquez shadowing the KTM. Behind, Bagnaia is under increasing pressure from Vinales.

8/20

ADVANTAGE MARTIN

Martin is gradually building a gap at the front and now holds almost a second over Acosta.

Further down the order, Vinales is catching Bagnaia.

7/20

WRONG DIRECTION FOR BAGNAIA

Having lost a position to Acosta, Bagnaia now also falls behind M Marquez into fourth.

7/20

TOP FOUR BREAK

The top four are checking out with Martin still leading and Acosta taking second off Bagnaia. M Marquez follows in fourt.

With a bit of a gap behind, Miller, Bastianini, and Vinales are the first chasers.

6/20

MISCALCULATION MARQUEZ

Overambitious from M Marquez who attacks Martin from a mile back into the final corner. He can't make it stick and loses momentum, allowing Bagnaia and Acosta through down the start/finish straight.

5/20

MARTIN CHECKING OUT?

There's half a second between Martin and M Marquez at the front, but so far it doesn't look like the Pramac rider can make a break for it.

Meanwhile, Acosta is looking seriously race-y behind Bagnaia.

4/20

MARQUEZ INTO SECOND

Acosta lost some momentum in the fight with Martin, enough for both M Marquez and Bagnaia to sneak through.

4/20

MARTIN HITS THE FRONT

Finally, Martin makes a move on Acosta stick and claims the lead. Behind, M Marquez makes his way past Bagnaia.

3/20

ACOSTA DEFENDS

Martin tries to challenge Acosta for the lead, but time and again the KTM holds firm. That only allows Bagnaia to close in further, same goes for M Marquez.

2/20

MARTIN ATTACKS

Martin attacks Acosta for the lead but can't make it stick and Acosta reclaims the position on the cut-back.

Things get feisty between Miller and M Marquez and some aero goes flying. Bagnaia capitalises and sneaks through into third.

2/20

STANDINGS AFTER LAP 1

After a frantic opening lap, here is your order:

  1. Acosta
  2. Martin
  3. Miller
  4. M Marquez
  5. Bagnaia
  6. Bastianini
  7. Rins
  8. A Marquez
  9. Vinales
1/20

ACOSTA STEALS HOLESHOT

Unreal start from Acosta who shoots into the lead with Martin in second. Meanwhile, pole sitter Vinales had a horrendous get-away and falls into 11th.

20:00

WARM-UP LAP

The riders are out on the Circuit of the Americas for their warm-up lap.

There's a late tyre switch from Marc Marquez who is now on a medium front, soft rear combo.

19:55

WEATHER REPORT AND TYRE NEWS

It's blue skies and the weather shouldn't interfere with a great race here. There is a bit of a stiff wind though that the riders will need to pay attention to.

There's a bit of a mix in tyres choices with both a medium/medium and a medium/soft combination proving popular.

Medium/medium: Vinales, Acosta, M Marquez, Di Giannantonio, A Marquez, R Fernandez, Oliveira, Quartararo, Binder, Zarco, Mir, Marini

Medium/soft: Bagnaia, Bastianini, Martin, Espargaro, Morbidelli, Bezzecchi, Miller, Rins, A Fernandez, Nakagami

19:50

BAGNAIA LOOKING FOR REDEMPTION

Francesco Bagnaia's Sprint hopes were over before the race properly started after a horrendous get-away. The defending champion was struggling to find pace from there but is hoping to make up for it today.

'My feeling wasn't the same as in the morning; the rear grip was much less and we have to check the data to understand why.

'For [the Grand Prix race], we will not change anything on the setting. We will change the rear tyre [configuration] and hopefully everything will be okay. [Going into the Sprint] the target was to fight for the podium because we had the pace to fight for the podium. For [the Grand Prix race] we have the same target, we know the potential is the same, so we will fight.'

19:45

ACOSTA GUNNING FOR MORE

Pedro Acosta was once more well in contention for a podium finish yesterday but eventually missed out against Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin. The rookie sensation is hoping to make up for it:

'Marc [Marquez] and Jorge [Martin] were more clever than me. Everything else, the bike was good, the tyre was not too bad, maybe a little bit worse than I expected. Marc and Jorge were more clever than me to overtake in that moment, but I've taken note and put it in the pocket for [the Grand Prix race].'

19:40

MARTIN KEEN TO BOUNCE BACK

After a difficult morning, Jorge Martin came through in the Sprint to take a podium. The Spaniard is hoping for more of the same today: 'It's always important to keep progressing and to take some points. [Saturday] was a tough day, but at the end of the day, we got a podium and I'm super happy.

'I feel confident that [in the Grand Prix race] I can be a bit more competitive. It's a difficult track where you really have to look into the details; the rear tyre is suffering a lot and let's see if we can be a bit more clever in the race.'

19:35

MARQUEZ HOPING FOR IMPROVEMENTS

COTA serial winner Marc Marquez admitted that yesterday's second place perhaps flattered his form. The Spaniard is hoping for improvements in the Grand Prix: 'We finished second, but the feeling in the race was terrible. I wasn't able to ride like I wanted to, I made many mistakes, in one part of the race I was struggling a lot. But then, step by step, I started to be a bit better, a bit smoother, and the lap times were getting better and better. So let's see if we can keep going that way.

'Like that, we can be closer to Vinales, but it won't be easy because Martin is super fast, Acosta is super fast, Bagnaia, Bastianini ... We need to manage the tyres and that will be one of the key points.'

19:30

VINALES CHASES HISTORY

If Maverick Vinales was to take victory today, he would become the first-ever rider to have won Grand Prix races with three different manufacturers (Suzuki, Yamaha, and potentially Aprilia). The Spaniard has been in a league of his own so far this weekend.

'We are dreaming - but life is that, you have to dream. It's amazing how much we've improved in general - it was very important! In Qatar I didn't feel good with the bike, I wasn't able to be competitive. But as soon as we changed the bike a little bit, especially the weight balance, I just felt incredible every single lap.

'Obviously we have to improve [for the Grand Prix race] because it's a long race, but physically I feel so good. So I want to go and push and put the hammer down to try do amazing lap times. It's pretty difficult to understand [the tyres] right now. I have to go to the garage and talk to the guys. I'm thinking there's two or three places to safe tyre while I can be effective in other places, so we'll see.'

19:20

WHAT HAPPENED IN QUALIFYING

Maverick Vinales stormed to an all-time lap record at COTA to secure pole position for this weekend. Rookie sensation Pedro Acosta bagged his first premier class front row in second with Marc Marquez completing the top three.

  1. Maverick Vinales
  2. Pedro Acosta
  3. Marc Marquez
  4. Francesco Bagnaia
  5. Enea Bastianini
  6. Jorge Martin
  7. Aleix Espargaro
  8. Fabio Di Giannantonio
  9. Franco Morbidelli
