Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider Marco Bezzecchi has travelled to the Indonesian Grand Prix, and been declared fit enough to race at Mandalika to keep his championship hopes alive. The Italian fractured his collarbone in a training crash last weekend and passed Thursday’s medical check. Bezzecchi currently sits third in the standings, 54 points shy of leader Francesco Bagnaia.

Marco Bezzecchi has travelled to Indonesia and been declared fit to compete in this weekend’s Grand Prix at Mandalika.
The Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider fractured his collarbone last weekend in a training crash at The Ranch in Tavulia.
Following successful surgery, Bezzecchi now appears to have won a race against the clock to recover in time for Sunday’s event to keep his Championship hopes alive.
Bezzecchi currently sits third in the standings, 54 points shy of leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and 51 points behind Prima Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) sits in fourth, 64 points adrift of Bezzecchi with Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) even further down the pecking order, 94 points off of the Italian.
This is being viewed as a miraculous comeback for Bezzecchi, and is similar to Jorge Lorenzo’s three-day recovery from a similar injury in Assen 2013.
After the announcement, Bezzecchi said: "Fortunately everything is okay and finally after the second medical check, I am fit.
"It will be hard, but I have give it my all to stay close to the top guys."
Lorenzo broke his left collarbone in a practice session on the Thursday ahead of the weekend action, was fitted with a plate in Barcelona the same night, and then sensationally returned in time for Saturday’s race.
His free practice time prior to the accident put him in 12th on the grid, despite missing qualifying.
The Spaniard’s fifth-place finish in Assen that year, which earned him the nickname “man of steel”, will give Bezzecchi hope of competing at the Indonesia Grand Prix this weekend.
