PODIUM CELEBRATIONS

The top three are on the podium to receive their trophies.

13:45

BINDER LOSES PODIUM, ESPARGARO PROMOTED

History repeats itself for KTM and Brad Binder who is demoted one position due to exceeding track limits at Turn 8.

Aleix Espargaro inherits the podium position.

Lap 26/26

BAGNAIA WINS THE DUTCH GRAND PRIX

No mistake on the final lap from Francesco Bagnaia who secures the win. Pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi comes home in second while Brad Binder rode the lap of his life to defend third.

Aleix Espargaro had Jorge Martin to contend with and just about managed to take the chequered flag ahead of the Ducati rider.

Lap 25/26

BAGNAIA LOOKS SAFE

Francesco Bagnaia holds an advantage of more than a second at the front and the race looks his to lose.

Marco Bezzecchi is comfortable enough in second with a half a second advantage but the fight for third is wide open between Brad Binder, Aleix Espargaro, and Jorge Martin.

Lap 23/26

ESPARGARO CLOSES IN

Aleix Espargaro is now all over the KTM's rear tyre and a move is looking more and more likely. However, Jorge Martin is finding some great late race form and closing in on the Aprilia.

Elsewhere, Takaaki Nakagami is having a brilliant race on the Honda, running in eighth, despite having served a long lap penalty, and setting lap times similar to the front.

Lap 21/26

ESPARGARO CHARGES

Aleix Espargaro is on a brilliant late charge and now almost within punching distance to Brad Binder. Second is still on the cards for the Spaniard.

Jorge Martin is hanging in in fifth, but the gap to fourth stays at around a second.

Lap 19/26

BEZZECCHI ON THE HUNT

Marco Bezzecchi is chasing down his compatriot Francesco Bagnaia who holds an advantage of around 1.3 seconds at the front.

Brad Binder is still running in third, but Aleix Espargaro is on the charge and closing in.

Lap 17/26

BAGNAIA BREAKS, BEZZECCHI ATTACKS

Francesco Bagnaia might have finally broken Brad Binder as the Ducati rider pulls away at the front. Marco Bezzecchi is forced into action and immediately attacks Binder. He makes a move stick to overtake but can't immediately shake off the KTM.

Lap 15/26

LECUONA OUT

Things are going from bad to worse for Honda as Iker Lecuona retires his bike to the pits with an apparent technical issue.

Lap 14/26

BREATHING SPACE FOR PECCO

A small error from Brad Binder earned Francesco Bagnaia some breathing space, but the South African is already on the hunt to close the gap back down. Marco Bezzecchi continues to stalk them in third.

Lap 13/26

BINDER PILES UP THE PRESSURE

Brad Binder is now all over Francesco Bagnaia's rear tyre.

The rider on pace though is Jorge Martin who keeps edging in ever closer to Aleix Espargaro.

Elsewhere, the race is over for Miguel Oliveira who retires his Aprilia to the pits with what looks like a technical problem.

Lap 11/26

HOT PACE AT THE FRONT, GAPS CONSTANT

The race has somewhat settled down with the top three riders keeping up a strong pace at the front. Brad Binder's soft rear tyre is starting to look a bit shaky under braking though and it will be interesting to see how the KTM rider manages from here - at the moment he seems unfazed, setting fastest laps.

Lap 9/26

BEZZECCHI ON THE PACE

Marco Bezzecchi is now the fastest of the top three riders who are still stuck together at the front.

Aleix Espargaro is now just over a second behind in fourth, but the Aprilia rider himself has an advantage of more than two and a half seconds over Jorge Martin in fifth.

Lap 8/26

UPDATE ON QUARTARARO, ZARCO INCIDENT

Replays show that the incident between two Frenchman was caused by Fabio Quartararo losing the front going into Turn 9 and wiping out his compatriot Johann Zarco who had nowhere to go.

Lap 7/26

BASTIANINI DOWN

Enea Bastianini becomes the race's next casualty as he goes down in a slow-speed crash.

Lap 6/26

TOP THREE BREAK AWAY

Francesco Bagnaia continues to lead but so far hasn't managed to shake off Brad Binder who is trailing him by about two tenths. Marco Bezzecchi is in the groove now too and glued to the KTM ahead of him.

The top three already have an advantage of just under a second to Aleix Espargaro in fourth.

Lap 4/26

VINALES DOWN

Maverick Vinales got up to great speed; unfortunately too much speed for his rear tyre as the Spaniard crashes out of the race.

Lap 3/26

BAGNAIA TAKES LEAD, QUARTARARO AND ZARCO DOWN

Francesco Bagnaia stalked Brad Binder closely and took his chance when it came to claim the lead.

Elsewhere, Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco are both down in the gravel at Turn 9. It is unclear if the two Frenchmen went down independently or made contact.

Lap 2/26

MILLER DOWN

The race is over for Jack Miller who crashed his KTM going into Turn 1 on the second lap.

Lap 1/26

LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO

Brad Binder got off to a flying start and dived down the inside to take the lead into Turn 1. Francesco Bagnaia chases the KTM in second with Marco Bezzecchi just behind.

Aleix Espargaro is fourth while Luca Marini dropped into fifth.

13:00

WARM UP LAP

The riders are out on track for the warm up lap.

12:55

FIVE MINUTES TO LIGHTS OUT

The Dutch national anthem has been played and the grid is slowly clearing up - we are almost ready to race!

Temperatures are the highest they have been all weekend and there is a big question mark behind who made the right tyre choice here.

12:50

GRID LINE-UP

Here is a final reminder of how the grid is shaping up today:

12:45

RIDERS GATHER ON THE GRID

Sighting laps are completed and the riders are taking their positions on the grid. Things are getting serious now!

Tyre selections see Brad Binder the only rider in the top six to start on the soft rear tyre. Johann Zarco, Alex Marquez, Jack Miller, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Takaaki Nakagami, Lorenzo Savadori, and Enea Bastianini made the same choice. Everyone else is on the medium rear tyre.

12:40

BEAUTIFUL DAY IN ASSEN

There's not a cloud in sky and we are guaranteed a dry race in the Netherlands.

Temperatures are on 29 degrees celsius with the track heating up - tyre selection could be crucial today!

12:35

  • 2. Jorge Martin 148
  • 3. Marco Bezzecchi 138

  • 10. Maverick Vinales 56
12:30

QUARTARARO TOPS WARM-UP

Fabio Quartararo's positive weekend continued this morning when he topped the Warm-Up session. After a disappointing season so far, Assen is delivering the encouraging signs Yamaha desperately need.

Takaaki Nakagami was a surprise second while Francesco Bagnaia completed the top three. Pole sitter Marco Bezzecchi completed the session in fifth, just over two tenths behind Quartararo.

12:25

MARQUEZ RULED OUT

Marc Marquez can't catch a break at the moment. The Spaniard has been declared unfit due to a fracture in his rib and will not go racing today.

12:20

BEZZECCHI TAKES FIRST-EVER SPRINT WIN

"I felt amazing on the bike," Marco Bezzecchi said yesterday after claiming his first-ever sprint victory. Despite losing places on the opening lap, the Italian fought back to take the lead and managed his advantage from there.

Compatriot Francesco Bagnaia finished second, while Brad Binder was controversially denied third by a track limits penalty, enabling Fabio Quartararo to finish third.

MOONEY VR46 SHINE IN QUALIFYING

The Mooney VR46 Racing Team riders excelled in qualifying yesterday with both Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini parking their Ducatis on the front row in first and third respectively. Factory rider Francesco Bagnaia squeezes in between them.

Fabio Quartararo and Yamaha found some form in Assen with P4, the Frenchman's best qualifying result so far this season. Marc Marquez had a terrible day in Assen, crashing out of Q1 in a curious incident with Enea Bastianini.

WELCOME TO THE DUTCH GRAND PRIX!

Marco Bezzecchi starts from pole and would dearly love to double up at Assen after winning yesterday's sprint.

Current championship leader and 2022 Dutch Grand Prix winner Francesco Bagnaia looks in great nick to strengthen his position at the top. His closest chaser in the fight for the title, Jorge Martin, has some work left to do this weekend and needs a great race from tenth on the grid to not lose too much ground.

Former world champion Fabio Quartararo finally returned to the top three yesterday - could a Yamaha resurgence be on? The Frenchman starts from a season's best P4.

Elsewhere, woes continue for Honda and Marc Marquez who will not start the race today due to a broken rib.
