THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE

Thank you for having joined our live text coverage of the 2023 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix.

The series returns in two weeks from now for its debut in India. As always, you can follow all the action live on TNT Sports.

27/27

MARTIN WINS THE SAN MARINO GRAND PRIX

Jorge Martin takes the chequered flag and wins the San Marino Grand Prix. Marco Bezzecchi takes second while Francesco Bagnaia holds off Dani Pedrosa for the final podium spot.

Maverick Vinales is fifth ahead of Miguel Oliveira. Marc Marquez fights off the charging Raul Fernandez and Luca Marini.

27/27

MARTIN AND BEZZECCHI SAFE, P3 UP FOR GRABS

Martin and Bezzecchi are sitting comfortably in first and second respectively going into the final lap.

Pedrosa is just about in striking distance of Bagnaia and third, but with Pedrosa unlikely to do anything reckless, Bagnaia looks set to hold on to the position.

25/27

BAGNAIA HOLDS FIRM

Bagnaia bravely holds Pedrosa at bay for now, but the veteran has the superior speed.

With Pedrosa as experienced and clean as he is, you know he will only attempt a move if it is relatively risk free.

24/27

MARQUEZ FADES

Things were looking good for Marquez and Honda a couple of laps ago, but having already lost out to Oliveira, the second RNF Aprilia of Fernandez is now also closing in.

23/27

BATTLE FOR THIRD IS ON

Aided by an error from Bagnaia, the gap between the Italian and Pedrosa is as good as gone.

21/27

MARTIN UP AND AWAY

It looks to be Martin's race to lose now with his advantage up to over two seconds now.

Bagnaia has nothing to offer Bezzecchi right now and will have to focus on maintaining third rather than fighting for second.

19/27

BEZZECCHI UP TO SECOND

The move was coming and there it is. Bezzecchi makes his way past Bagnaia at T8 and immediately starts to pull away.

Bagnaia's pace is going in the wrong direction and the Italian is falling into the clutches of Pedrosa.

18/27

MARTIN EDGES AWAY

Slowly but surely, Martin is establishing a lead at the front.

Meanwhile, Bezzecchi is increasing the pressure on Bagnaia who is dropping pace now.

17/27

MARQUEZ CLOSES IN ON VINALES

Some silver lining for Honda there as Marquez closes in on Vinales and P5.

16/27

NO CHANGES TO THE ORDER

It's still Martin leading from Bagnaia and Bezzecchi. Neither looks in a position to attempt a move at the moment.

It should be noted as well that the two Italians are riding injured and pain killers may start to wear off soon.

14/27

ERROR FROM PEDROSA

Pedrosa loses good ground to the Ducatis. There must have been an error somewhere in his latest lap there and he has to do all the work again with the gap back up to 1.3 seconds.

13/27

VINALES BEST OF THE REST

Behind the front runners, Vinales is the best of the rest in fifth. Behind, Marquez, having made a last minute tyre swap to a hard front, soft rear combo on the Honda, is holding on the sixth for now.

12/27

PEDROSA CLOSES IN

The gap between the leading Ducati trio and Pedrosa is getting ever smaller. He's trailing them by about seven tenths now.

10/27

INCIDENT TAKES MILLER AND PIRRO OUT OF THE RUNNING

Things get worse for the factory KTM team as Miller too exits the race following an incident with Pirro whose race is also over.

8/27

BINDER CRASHES OUT

That's it for Brad Binder who loses the front at T14 and is down and out.

Pedrosa takes over as the top KTM in fourth. He's currently matching the pace of the leaders.

8/27

DUCATI TRIO LEAD, BINDER CLOSES IN

It's still the Ducati trio running closely together at the front, but Binder is etching closer. So far, the KTM rider has not been able to take big chunks out of the gap but instead chips away at it.

6/27

BEZZECCHI HITS SECOND, LOSES IT AGAIN

Beautiful move from Bezzecchi who overtakes Bagnaia on the brakes going into T8. However, I runs wide just after and has to surrender the position again.

5/27

MARTIN LEADS BUT CAN'T RELAX

Neither of the two Italians at the front where able to challenge Martin yet as the Pramac rider continues the lead. However, the three of them are still glued together on track.

Binder trails them by just over seven tenths.

3/27

BINDER ON THE MOVE

Having overtaken and subsequently disposed of Pedrosa, Binder is now the fastest rider on track and inching closer to the front trio.

2/27

BAGNAIA PILES UP THE PRESSURE

Bagnaia is swarming all over the rear tyre of Martin's Ducati but can't find an opportunity to make a move stick yet. Bezzecchi has shaken off the KTM duo of Binder and Pedrosa and is chasing down the leaders.

1/27

MARTIN MAINTAINS P1 AT LIGHTS OUT, BAGNAIA UP TO SECOND

No problem for Jorge Martin who converts pole position into an immediate race lead at lights out. Bagnaia wins a battle for second against Bezzecchi and Pedrosa.

WARM UP LAP

The riders are out on track for the warm up lap. We are moments away from racing at the San Marino Grand Prix!

12:55

TYRE UPDATE AND GRID POSITIONS

Hard front, medium soft is the popular tyre combination today with all but two riders opting for the harder compounds to brave the hot conditions. The exceptions come from Honda pair Stefan Bradl and Takaaki Nakagami who are taking a punt at a hard front, soft rear option further down the order.

Here is a final reminder how of the grid is shaping up:

WEATHER REPORT

It's the hottest conditions we've had all weekend with air temperatures up to over 30 degrees Celsius.

With the tarmac sizzling, tyre management could be crucial today.

12:45

SPECIAL LIVERIES FOR LENOVO DUCATI

The factory Ducati squad have dressed up for their home race and honour a piece of Italian motorsport history with a special yellow livery.

12:40

PERFECT SATURDAY FOR MARTIN WITH SPRINT WIN

Having looked untouchable in qualifying, Jorge Martin continued a perfect Saturday with a dominant Sprint performance. He stormed to a comfortable lead over Marco Bezzecchi who himself was safe in second. However, the battle for third wasn't over untitl the final corner as Francesco Bagnaia just managed to hold off the two KTMs of Dani Pedrosa and Brad Binder.

MARTIN OBLITERATES TRACK RECORD TO BAG POLE

A stunning new lap record of 1:30.3900 secured Jorge Martin his first pole position of the season. The Spaniard smashed the Misano track record not once but twice in a dominant Q2 performance. Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia will complete the front row in second and third respectively.

Noteably, Dani Pedrosa steered the KTM to P5 at his return to the grid.

HELLO AND WELCOME!

Hello and thank you for joining our live text coverage 2023 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix.

Jorge Martin is flying high after his championship challenge was reignited last week and is keen for more here in Misano. The Pramac Ducati rider had a dream weekend so far, securing both pole position and the Sprint victory yesterday. However, home hero Francesco Bagnaia won't let Martin have it all his own way. The championship leader had a lifetime's worth of luck at last week's Catalan Grand Prix, walking away from his horror crash at T2 with nothing more serious than contutions and is already back on track.

Also keep an eye out for Dani Pedrosa who rejoins the grid this weekend as a wildcard for KTM and looks like he's never been away.
