The squad, who will again build their own bike around a Honda engine in 2007, want expand to a pair of riders for the first time since losing their Proton engine deal last year.
But without a major sponsor, Asland does not see that as being likely in the near future.
Asland said: “At the moment, we would like to bring the team up to a two-bike effort, but that depends on engine supply and sponsorship.
“It looks likely that we will once again run a one-rider effort next year and hopefully we can expand beyond that in 2008."
The team have run 2000 champion Kenny Roberts Jr – the son of team boss Kenny Sr – since the start of the season, and are almost certain to retain the 33-year-old American next year.
