The Italian believes that in order to successfully defend his world title he will have to make the podium for every race to come after a chatter-plagued season debut including a tyre-failure in China and an engine problem at Le Mans.
Yamaha's answer to the handling problems - the YZR M1 chassis - was introduced for the French GP and was proving a success until Rossi was forced to retire after having dominated out front.
"This bike is now ready to fight competitively for the rest of the season," said team boss Davide Brivio. "As Valentino said yesterday, he needs to be on the podium at every race from now on and we hope that our bike is now ready to do just that."
Rossi had the complete package in full function for his home GP at Mugello and took his much-needed second victory, but team-mate Colin Edwards struggled to twelfth with the new bike, only coming to grips with the developments in the following Monday testing.
"It has been a good test for both Valentino and Colin." said Brivio. "It's been helpful to have some more time to test the new chassis and find the perfect set-up, we need to keep improving and carry on with the momentum!
"It's important to be able to confirm that we've made the right decisions with regards to the direction we're taking, and to see that the package we used in Le Mans and Mugello is the right one for us."
