Nicolas Hamilton will race in the British Touring Car Championship this season, becoming the first disabled driver to break into the series.
The 22-year-old, younger brother of Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, will race for the British AmD Tuning team and take part in five races this season.
"Whilst I'm aiming to improve as a driver, I'm also hoping to inspire others to strive for their own personal goals," said Hamilton.
Given that Nicolas suffers from cerebral palsy, it is seen as a major step forward in promoting disabled sport - particularly in motorsport.
His first appearance of the season will be at the Croft Circuit in Yorkshire on 27-28 June.
He will then take part in subsequent race meetings at Snetterton, Rockingham, Silverstone and Brands Hatch - though he will drive with "guest" status, and will not be permitted to score BTCC championship points.
"It will provide Nicolas with invaluable experience through competing at the highest level of British motorsport and will hopefully serve as an inspiration to others," BTCC Series Director Alan Gow told the BBC.
When asked about his brother's racing three years ago, Hamilton spoke of his immense pride at seeing how Nicolas took on the challenges he was faced with
"I can't imagine how proud my dad is but I am just incredibly proud," he said. "I was just smiling the whole way through the race."
