England international Adrian Morley helped Swinton reach the last eight of the Northern Rail Cup with a 26-18 win over North Wales Crusaders at Leigh Sports Village.
The Warrington captain made his comeback from a three-month lay-off with a ruptured bicep by playing for the Wolves' partner Championship club on a dual registration.
Morley had two stints in the match as he gained the match-fitness that could earn him a spot in next Saturday's Super League derby against St Helens at the Magic Weekend in Manchester.
While the Lions reached the quarter-finals, last year's runners-up Featherstone followed holders Halifax out of the competition when they went down 22-12 at home to Leigh in caretaker coach Ryan Sheridan's first match in charge.
Forward Anthony England's early try gave Rovers the lead but the Centurions led 18-12 at the break and clinched victory with winger Jonathan Pownall's try three minutes from the end.
Sheffield Eagles, who are in the last eight of the Challenge Cup, stepped up their three-pronged trophy assault with a 64-10 win over Barrow at Don Valley Stadium.
Quentin Laulu-Togagae, Menzie Yere and Joe Hirst all scored two tries apiece for the rampant Eagles.
Papua New Guinea centre Jessie Joe Parker scored a hat-trick of tries in Whitehaven's 62-16 win over Championship One team London Skolars at the New River Stadium.
Elsewhere, Batley came from 12-6 down at half-time to beat Keighley 38-18 at Cougar Park and there were also wins for Workington and Doncaster.
