Steve Borthwick has suggested he may become involved in a tug-of-war with Wales head coach Warren Gatland for Exeter Chiefs wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso. The 21-year-old is eligible to compete for both England and Wales, and has not disclosed which country he would rather play for ahead of the 2024 Six Nations. Feyi-Waboso has impressed in the Gallagher Premiership this season.

England head coach Steve Borthwick has confirmed he has spoken to Immanuel Feyi-Waboso ahead of selecting a squad for the 2024 Six Nations.
The 21-year-old wing has impressed for Exeter Chiefs in the Gallagher Premiership this season, putting on a particularly dazzling display against Bristol Bears last week.
Feyi-Waboso was born and raised in Wales, but is also eligible to compete for England. He has refused to be drawn into the speculation surrounding his international future.
"I have chatted to him, yes," said Borthwick.
"I will name a Six Nations squad on January 17 and what the players need to do is play well and earn their place in the selection.
"It is a competitive mix. I’m seeing a lot of good performances."
Borthwick mentioned a number of other players he believed to be "performing impressively."
"The likes of Ethan Roots," he said. "There’s Greg Fisilau too, and then there are others who have got over the disappointment of not making the World Cup and handled that in a really impressive manner.
"Tommy Freeman and Henry Slade have been excellent. The guys who have come back from the World Cup have played a lot, and have had a lot of minutes.
"Maro Itoje’s playing very well, Ben Earl’s back from injury and it’s great to see him back, and Alex Mitchell is in form too. There’s a lot of competition for places right now."
Newcastle Falcons head coach Alex Codling claimed his flanker Guy Pepper is also in contention, despite his team’s poor run of form which sees them bottom of the Gallagher Premiership table with no wins.
"I know they [England] are speaking about him [Pepper] and he is on their radar – we will find out exactly where in due course," Codling said, in quotes published by RugbyPass.
"He still has a lot of do at the age of 20 but he is in a good place, getting better every week, is extremely physical and is good over the ball."
Borthwick is set to name his squad for the Six Nations, running from February 2 to March 16, on January 17.
The players in contention have two more opportunities to convince the England head coach – the next round of Gallagher Premiership action, and the next set of Investec Champions Cup group-stage matches.
Games from both rounds of fixtures will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.
