Michalak in fitness battle

Injury-depleted Toulouse could be without outside-half Frederic Michalak for the opening match of the season as the French international struggles with a thigh injury.

The mercurially-gifted 26-year-old picked up the muscular problem during a friendly on July 24 and a scan on Wednesday revealed a slight strain.

"Nothing serious, a slight spasm," Michalak said after undergoing an MRI scan. He will be out of action for several days and will not take part in Toulouse's friendly at Biarritz on Saturday.

A decision on whether he will play in the season opener on August 15 at Montauban will be made in the coming days.
