Lock Michael Owen has withdrawn from the Wales World Cup squad because of a back injury, national coach Steve Hansen said on Wednesday. The 22-year-old, who scored his first try for Wales against Scotland last month, will be replaced by Chris Wyatt, a member of the 1999 World Cup squad.

"Michael injured his back prior to going on our warm weather training camp to Lanzarote and, after seeking specialist advice, we have decided not to risk him by taking him to Australia," Hansen said in a statement.
"The injury means he will be out for a further six weeks or so. Michael understands the situation and we are lucky to have an able replacement in Chris Wyatt to bring into the squad,"
Wales, who leave for Australia on Sunday, meet Canada, Tonga, Italy and New Zealand in pool D of the tournament which starts on October 10.
Revised squad:
Backs:Kevin Morgan, Rhys Williams, Garan Evans, Gareth Thomas, Mark Jones, Mark Taylor, Tom Shanklin, Sonny Parker, Iestyn Harris, Ceri Sweeney, Stephen Jones, Dwayne Peel, Gareth Cooper, Shane Williams
Forwards:Jonathan Thomas, Martyn Williams, Colin Charvis, Dafydd Jones, Alix Popham, Chris Wyatt, Gareth Llewellyn, Robert Sidoli, Brent Cockbain, Gethin Jenkins, Adam Jones, Duncan Jones, Iestyn Thomas, Robin McBryde, Huw Bennett, Mefin Davies.
