Christie edges into 500m short-track final after thrilling photo finish

Team GB speed skater Elise Christie edged into the 500m Short Track final after a thrilling photo finish in the semi-finals.

The reigning triple world champion, who is targeting her first Olympic medal after heartache in Sochi four years ago, where she missed out in all three events, will skate for glory at 12:09 GMT, live on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport Player.

Christie’s time of 43.184 seconds was just 0.002s behind the Netherlands’ Yara van Kerkhof time in the second semi-final, with Canada’s Kim Boutin also joining them in the final after finishing 59cm behind the Briton.

And after scraping into the semi-final with a photo finish, Korean Choi Min-jeong - favourite for gold – breezed the first semi after setting an Olympic record, with Arianna Fontana of Italy completing the five-woman final line-up.
