Sky Brown says she doesn’t feel much pressure on her shoulders despite rising to fame over the last three years as she became Great Britain’s youngest-ever Olympic medallist at Tokyo 2020. Brown, 14, is keen to compete in two sports at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris and says she wants to "inspire other girls." The Olympic Games will return with Paris 2024, live on Eurosport and discovery+.

‘It wasn’t pressure’ – Team GB's Brown on her final skateboarding run

Skateboarding star Sky Brown feels she doesn’t feel much pressure and simply wants to “inspire other girls”.
Brown rose to fame at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as she became the youngest athlete to win an Olympic medal with bronze in the women’s park skateboarding event.
She was just 13 years old at the time and has since won at the Summer X Games and Dew Tour, beating Yosozumi Sakura and Hiraki Kokona, both of whom finished ahead of her at the Olympics.
“Honestly, I don’t have much pressure,” Brown told Olympics.com. “I don’t really have any pressure. It seems like a lot but I’m doing what I love. I’m playing in my playground; it’s really easy for me.
“It’s not really pressure, but I do really want to inspire other girls, inspire people out there and that does give me a boost of fire, and gives me a reason to, you know?
“[It] gives me a reason to push harder. It’s like, I want to do it for them.”
Brown is looking to compete in two sports at next year’s Olympics, an accolade which very few athletes have ever done.
She splits her time between skateboarding and surfing and is keen to qualify for both at Paris 2024.
"I really hope I can get in for surfing and skateboarding,” said the 14-year-old.
“It would be really cool because I love them so much, and I want to show the world you don’t just have to do one sport.
“Skating and surfing – it's my playground. It’s what I love to do: it’s my happy place.
She added: “It’s been my dream for a while just to inspire girls. Not even just skateboarding, just whatever they want to do.
“I want to inspire them to do it because you only get one life, and you can’t let the boys stop you from doing it. Do it. Don’t care what people think.
"Just seeing these little girls come up to me and wearing my helmet, skating and using my skateboard... it’s really cool.
"It makes me want to push even harder, so I’m really thankful."
