World number one Judd Trump and two-time champion Mark Williams got their German Masters campaigns under way with straightforward wins.
Trump coasted to a straightforward 5-1 victory over Noppon Saengkham, recording a break of 114 just before the mid-session interval.
He will face Luca Brecel in the next round, who raced to a 5-0 win over Joe Perry.
Meanwhile, Williams logged a 5-2 win over Yuan Sijun, putting in a fine performance, including two century breaks, to secure his place in the last 16.
It was an improvement from his display at the European Masters last week, where he was knocked out 5-4 in the first round by Yuelong Zhou.
