Judd Trump claims third German Masters title with convincing win over Si Jiahui in Berlin

Judd Trump claimed his third German Masters title and fourth ranking title of the season with an impressive 10-5 win over China's Si Jiahui on Sunday evening. The Bristol man was not quite faultless, but perhaps the next best thing as he cruised to victory over his inexperienced rival who looked every bit the younger competitor with a string of errors opening the door time and again.

Judd Trump continued his superb season as a 10-5 victory over Si Jiahui delivered a third German Masters crown at the Berlin Tempodrom.

Trump now boasts four ranking titles this season, having also won the English Open, Wuhan Open and International Championship.

On the line in the German capital was the Brandon Parker Trophy and an £80,000 first prize.

The world No. 2 led 5-3 after an entertaining afternoon session, but 21-year-old Si made the perfect start to the evening, making a sublime 123 clearance to pull Trump closer.

However, Trump responded with a century break of his own, taking the 10th frame with consummate ease.

Trump was on a roll and produced the 66th century of his season in the next frame to move into a dominant 7-4 lead.

Another error at the top of the 12th frame from Si gave Trump yet another opening through which he could charge. The Englishman failed to make it three straight century breaks, but still picked up the frame with Si sitting on the sidelines.

Si was in real trouble and needed to begin his rally if he was to have any hope of a comeback victory, but missed contact with his opening attempt in the 13th frame.

Trump played conservatively and paid for his lack of ambition when he missed sinking the red. Si stepped up and calmly cruised to a vital frame win.

Trump moved to within one frame of victory following a dogged display in the 14th frame. After a strong break, Si had his chance but could only muster 32 points before handing the initiative back to his adversary. Trump, at the second time of asking, made no mistake and polished off the frame.

The story of the match had been of the veteran Trump punishing his rival's mistakes, while Si had too often failed to do the same.

Another slip from Si in the final frame once again gave Trump a chance. This time though, Trump responded with an error of his own.

Si put up 16 but stumbled again, missing the red and once again handing control of the frame to Trump.

From there Trump cruised to victory, taking the title as the Tempodrom saluted their champion.

It was a smart start in the opening frame for Si, pouncing on a Trump error from the break-off to roll on nicely, but he couldn't clean up a tricky table. Both players were cagey and handed the other multiple opportunities, but it was the veteran who finally seized his chance. Trump took the first frame.

Si responded well, picking up 73 from the break-off and levelled the match after a brief Trump cameo.

Trump restored his lead with ease in the third frame, with Si only managing six points.

A Trump error in the fourth frame gave Si the chance to level the match and he didn't have to be asked twice. After four frames, the players could not be split.

Trump kept up his habit of winning every other frame in the fifth, with Si little more than an interested observer.

A Si miscue sent down the black early in the next frame, and Trump jumped at the chance to make it 5-2.

Si gave himself a lifeline with a crucial win in the final frame of the afternoon session, playing smartly enough as Trump came over suddenly conservative.
