World number five Trump - winner of this tournament in 2012 with a 10-8 success against Neil Robertson - was never tested by a disappointing Bingtao, who toiled to find any form in departing the event without much of a fight.
Trump made breaks of 68, 104 and 62 with last year's Northern Ireland Open finalist and world number 23 Bingtao - who somehow eked out a 6-5 win over Ryan Day in the last 32 on Tuesday - dominating the fourth frame to prevent a whitewash.
Trump will face world number 21 Jack Lisowski in the last eight after his 6-5 win over Martin Gould as he rolled in closing centuries of 103 and 106 to close out the win from 5-4 behind.
2016 German Masters champion Gould enjoyed a 68, 52 and a 139 to edge clear having trailed 4-3 in a high-quality encounter that saw his fellow Englishman produce fine knocks of 51, 93 and 64 before his stunning double winning finale.
World number one Mark Selby was a 6-3 winner against Stuart Carrington - boosted by runs of 84, 85, 77 and 55 - while Martin O'Donnell enjoyed a 6-1 success against recent World Open finalist David Gilbert.
Selby will face Neil Robertson in the last eight after the Australian beat Yuan Sijun 6-4.
Robertson finished the match ins tyle with back-to-back century breaks of 127 and 125.
There was a shock as home favourite Ding Junhui was knocked out by Matthew Stevens 6-5.
Ding took the opening two frames with breaks of 50 and 61 before Stevens responded in the third.
The Welshman's first half-century break of the match, 61, levelled matters at 3-3 in the sixth frame.
Ding took the lead again before Stevens knocked in breaks of 67 and 127 to go to within one of victory.
Ding forced a decider with a break of 66 but it was Stevens who went through to face Martin O'Donnell in the quarter-finals.
