Mark Selby and John Higgins fell to defeat in the fourth round of the International Championship in China, as Ali Carter eased into the quarter-finals to set up a clash with Ronnie O’Sullivan. World No. 5 Selby was beaten by compatriot Tom Ford, while Northern Ireland’s Jordan Brown overcame Higgins in an identical 6-3 scoreline. O’Sullivan beat Anthony McGill to advance.

'Finishing in style' - Brown makes century to seal win over Higgins

Two big names exited the International Championship in China as Mark Selby and John Higgins lost their last-16 ties on Wednesday.
World No. 5 Selby was beaten 6-3 by Tom Ford, while 43rd-ranked Jordan Brown overcame Higgins by the same scoreline.
Ford recovered from 3-1 down to beat Selby, making four half-century breaks in the comeback win.
Brown wrapped up his victory over Higgins with a 116 break.
With Judd Trump also losing on Tuesday, Ronnie O’Sullivan is now the only top-10 seeded player in the tournament as he chases a 40th ranking title.
The world No. 1 faces Ali Carter in the last eight after beating Anthony McGill 6-2 on Wednesday.
Carter comfortably beat Welshman Daniel Wells 6-1.
Ford will next play Barry Hawkins, who came from 5-1 down to beat Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, while Brown will take on Stephen Maguire.
With the competition wide open and a rare ranking title up for grabs, Maguire might fancy his chances after ending top seed Judd Trump’s 22-match winning run in the third round.
Elsewhere during the morning session on Wednesday, Zhang Anda defeated Lyu Haotian 6-3.
Home favourite Ding Junhui moved into the last eight with victory over Pang Junxu.
