Full name: Adam Duffy (pictured)
Nationality: English
Age: 19
World Ranking: N/A
Pontin's International Open Series (PIOS) Ranking: 20 (after six events)
Career highlights: English U19 champion; current Paul Hunter scholar.
General: The World Snooker Academy did not have to look far when picking their candidate for the second Paul Hunter Scholarship and handed the honour to Eckington youngster Adam Duffy. Duffy won his first England cap when he was just 15 and last year won the English U19 title, beating Ben Harrison 8-3 in the final. He has struggled at times in the PIOS this year but showed his class in event five when he reached the semi-finals.
Strengths: Duffy cites Ronnie O'Sullivan as his favourite player and he tries to replicate that same free-flowing attacking play that makes the Rocket such a joy to watch. Duffy has already had a 146 in competition and has produced numerous 147s in practice. A great potter - he knows how to build a break.
Weaknesses: Duffy has cited safety play as an area he needs to improve and his training at the Academy is sure to help him develop the kind of polished game that is needed at the top level. It looks unlikely that he will make the Pro Tour next season but another year on the PIOS circuit might not do him any harm. A couple of big wins next year should give him the confidence needed to move on and face the big boys.
