World No. 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan was eliminated from the invitational Macau Masters at the quarter-final stage after losing 6-2 to Marco Fu on Wednesday.
O'Sullivan dumped out Ding Junhui 6-2 on Christmas Day in an exhibition match at the Wynn Palace, but had no answer to Fu, who gained a measure of revenge for his 6-4 loss to the seven-time world champion in the Hong Masters final last year.
Fu will next take on Jack Lisowski in the semi-finals on Thursday after 'Jackpot' ran out a 6-2 winner against Kyren Wilson.
Meanwhile, Judd Trump confronts fellow former world champion Mark Williams in the other semi-final after he hit a century in a 6-1 win over Ding, while Williams managed to find some solid form in a 6-3 victory over Si Jiahui.
The winner of the event on Friday will earn a £150,000 winner's cheque, with appearance money worth over £35,000 to each player.
UK champion O'Sullivan begins his quest for a record-extending eighth Masters title against Ding on Monday January 8 in London.
