The Scottish Open main event gets underway at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Sports Centre, as reigning champion Gary Wilson aims to defend his title against a stellar cast of the sport's biggest names. Judd Trump and Luca Brecel are set to feature in the Scottish capital, ahead of what promises to be a tantalising week of snooker, but Ronnie O'Sullivan has withdrawn.
Gary Wilson makes second century of Scottish Open final against Joe O’Connor
The 2023/24 snooker season takes us from Wales to Scotland, as the sport's biggest stars head to Edinburgh for the Scottish Open.
Mark Allen heads into the tournament on a high after winning his 10th career ranking title with victory over Cao Yupeng at the 2023 Snooker Shoot Out final in Swansea, and begins with a match against Welshman Jamie Jones.
World No. 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan won't be able to add yet another ranking title to the UK Championship he won in York on December 3, as he withdrew for "medical reasons".
However, it is Gary Wilson who heads into the tournament as the holder after winning the first title of his career following a convincing 9-2 win over Joe O'Connor in last year's final.
Among the other names to look out for include Luca Brecel, who begins the tournament against Ukrainian Iulian Boiko, and Judd Trump who starts against Sydney Wilson.
