‘I have never seen something like that before’ - Trump benefits from remarkable fluked snooker

Ali Carter has admitted he had to overcome a loss of composure following a remarkable Judd Trump fluke in their Masters quarter-final.
Carter held a 4-3 lead and looked primed to move two frames to the good and one from victory when Trump missed a green and left it hanging over the yellow pocket.
But a flick of the brown came to Trump’s rescue as it nestled on top of the green and left Carter snookered.
Carter went for a hit-and-hope escape, but went in-off and Trump took the frame a short while later to draw level.
The world No. 10 has admitted the wild fluke left him rattled, but he regrouped and went on to secure the win after Trump missed a match-ball red in the 10th.
“For all the money I am 5-3 up,” Carter said in the Eurosport studio. “I felt like I had worked really hard.
“That is probably the most outrageous thing as a professional I have ever seen. I had no shot.
“I lost my composure after that for a frame and a half.
“I just said to myself ‘don't throw it away through your own stupidity. Don’t give it to him, make it hard for him.’ I made it hard for him, then he missed (in the 10th) and I’ve cleared up and made a great break in the decider.”

‘I was thinking all sorts of things’ - Carter reacts to Trump’s fluked snooker

Talking through Trump’s fluked snooker in the eighth, Carter said: “First of all I thought he fluked it. Then, look, the brown is going over the hole and the green is there. I had no shot.
“I was thinking all sorts of things.”
Despite the upset of losing the eighth frame, Carter was pleased with how he responded with a brilliant clearance in the 10th before a thrilling break to take the win in the 11th.
“I had a few tricky balls there, a lot of just off straight and stuns,” Carter said. “You know if you are striking and aiming where intended I know that I am not missing those balls.
“They are the ones that if you are not sure of your action you can miss anything, but any tricky ball I middled it in the final frame so I am delighted.”
