Welcome to our live text coverage of semi-finals day at the Tour Championship, with Ronnie O'Sullivan facing Gary Wilson, while in the other last-four clash Mark Allen takes on Mark Williams. 'The Rocket' said he had been driving himself "insane" in a bid to find some form this year, but appeared to locate something close to his best in his 10-2 last-eight win over Ali Carter.

'He thought he'd thrown it away' - Watch dramatic ending to O'Sullivan-Vafaei classic

On Saturday, Mark Williams meets Mark Allen in the second semi-final with the first session scheduled for 13.00 BST.
Join us then for more action from the 2024 Tour Championship. Good night!

RESULT! - O’SULLIVAN 10-7 WILSON

It’s now or never for Wilson – but sadly for him it’s Ronnie who has first dibs on the table as he pummels a long red to the corner before rolling a brown up to the yellow pocket.
Another red is followed by the brown to the green pocket this time and Ronnie swash-buckles on before briefly halting on 17 to have a quick swig of water.
His thirst may have been abated but his hunger to reach the final isn’t as a delicious cut on a tricky red up to middle left keeps him on track and leaves Wilson with a sinking feeling.
A routine black takes him beyond the half century and a red to middle left and a black to the right corner put him out of reach.
Fittingly, he has saved the best until last this evening as he surges into a 64th ranking final courtesy of a scintillating 129 century clearance.

O’SULLIVAN 9-7 WILSON

O’Sullivan is quickly in again and this time he does find position on a colour.
A succession of red-black combos put him firmly on course but he needs to produce an exceptional cut on a red close to the left cushion to guide it into the right corner at a key point in his run.
Indeed, it’s a quite magnificent bit of break building from The Rocket who deserves a century, but doesn’t get it as the finest of cuts on the final red up to the green pocket doesn’t quite come off…
However, his break of 97 is far more significant in the context of this match as he once again has a two-frame lead and is now just one away from booking a spot in the final.

O’SULLIVAN 8-7 WILSON (1-0)

Ronnie nails a long red to the left corner, but the cue ball burrows itself deep within the pack and he’s nowhere near to being on a colour.

O’SULLIVAN 8-7 WILSON

A brief safety exchange sees Wilson blink first and leave a red on to the right corner.
The Rocket extends his lead with blue-red-blue-red before a black leaves Wilson facing a deficit once more.
A miss on a red down the bottom rail ends his run prematurely, but Wilson knows the frame is gone and concedes.

O’SULLIVAN 7-7 WILSON (49-7)

Ronnie’s fortune with the cue ball means there’s no sitter for Wilson to make the most of.
Instead, The Rocket unleashes a scorcher of a long pot on a red to the corner and a yellow up to its home pocket allows him to navigate into a healthier position south of baulk.
He’s not quite finding the perfect angles, particularly when playing off the blue, as he’s often not topside of that colour and it’s his best hope given the black is surrounded by reds and the pink is tight to the right rail.
In the end, he plays the percentages and retreats to baulk following a run of 49.

O’SULLIVAN 7-7 WILSON (0-7)

Oof! O’Sullivan miscues a long red to the right corner that cannons into the black and sends it into the opposite pocket. The cue ball saunter up to baulk and finds a seat right on the line of the green pocket!
It makes for a rather bizarre start to Frame 15.

O’SULLIVAN 7-7 WILSON

Wilson rolls a red along the bottom cushion to the left corner and quickly eats into O’Sullivan’s lead.
He overruns on a black to the bottom right and has to cue over the pink to tease the final red to the middle right.
From there it’s routine with the frame in the bag and the World No.13 ties the match with another highly accomplished 96 clearance.

O’SULLIVAN 7-6 WILSON (35-0)

Wilson’s safety goes AWOL almost immediately and a nasty ricochet after catching a red far too firmly leaves one on to the middle right for Ronnie.
The Rocket slips it down and sets about trying to re-establish that two-frame lead.
A blue to middle right and a red down to the right corner can’t quite tee up a black shadowed by a trio of reds and he needs to pick off a belting pink up to middle left. It’s a cracker, but a similar attempt on a red to middle right goes awry and leaves the door open for Gary.

O’SULLIVAN 7-6 WILSON

Gary tickles a red down to the middle left and he quickly mops up a succession of red-black combos to leave Ronnie needing snookers.
A delightful cannon into the remainder of the pack off a pot on a black to the left corner ensures The Rocket will remain in his seat and The Tyneside Terror mops up the rest of the reds, and then routinely clips in the colours, as an 84 clearance reduces the arrears in style.

O’SULLIVAN 7-5 WILSON (0-47)

This is a big, big frame for Wilson if he’s to have realistic hope of turning this around and he makes a strong start, popping a red to middle left and following with a simple black to the left corner.
He plays freely with some smooth potting as he builds a tidy advantage on a table that is far from inviting.
He’s got some work to do and a clever cannon off two cushions frees a red to the left that he’s able to cut to the middle.
It’s still slim pickings and he ends up taking on a three-ball plant to the right corner that doesn’t pay dividends.
His break ends on 47 but The Rocket immediately fouls and Gary is back in the driving seat and eager to get this one over the line.

O’SULLIVAN 7-5 WILSON

It’s high stakes and the Snooker GOAT tends to deliver when the question is asked.
A stonking red helps him seize control and there’s a real swagger to the way the seven-time World champion clears up, securing a two-frame lead heading into the interval via a superb break of 57.

O’SULLIVAN 6-5 WILSON (16-54)

Ronnie’s ears ring with successive outbursts of applause as he produces two fine pots on back-to-back reds to give himself real hope of the steal.
An attempt to split the pack off a pot on the black doesn’t come off and he’s a whisker away from rescuing his run with a long red to the green pocket that somehow refuses the invitation to go down.
Wilson then miscues a cut on a red and it’s back in Ronnie’s hands – will he deliver?

O’SULLIVAN 6-5 WILSON (0-54)

O’Sullivan is unlucky with an attempt on a long red up the yellow pocket that shudders both jaws before reeling free.
Wilson nicks in a red to middle left to have the first nibble at this table’s offering and plays off the blue before working his way towards the black.
He handles some precarious cueing over the pack with class as he nudges a miss-able red to the left corner and again makes intelligent use of the blue to keep his run ticking over.
The Tyneside Terror is rock solid with the rest to despatch a pink to the right corner and take care of a red on the south-east side of the pack.
However, he runs out of free reds with the pack mostly intact and needs to attempt a double with the top red to the middle right. It doesn’t come off but a break of 54 is definitely one that puts him in the driving seat.

O’SULLIVAN 6-5 WILSON

The Rocket gobbles up a red hovering over the middle right pocket with a clinical cut from baulk and pops in a blue before making use of the black to finish off the last of the free reds.
He cannons into the final two reds on the bottom cushion but is unfortunate with where they land. He considers his options and then pulls off a magical double off the left cushion to produce the pot to the corner and put himself in position to snatch the frame from this visit - which had seemed implausible just moments earlier.
The final red is despatched with ease and he works his way through the colours to regain the lead with a superb 54 clearance up to the pink.

O’SULLIVAN 5-5 WILSON (9-41)

Wilson shows velvety hands to tease a black hindered by a couple of reds on the bottom rail to the right corner. It earns him a roar of approval from the crowd, but he follows it with a bang average miss on a red and comes up shy on 14.

O’SULLIVAN 5-5 WILSON (9-27)

It’s far from convincing from The Rocket as a devilish dance with the jaws sees the black somehow drop when it looked certain to stay up. He then plays a woeful positional shot and is called for making a push/foul on the blue.
Wilson is suspicious of the call and asks if the referee can check a replay. It’s very sporting of the World No.13 who earns a round of applause for asking despite it being in the best interest of his opponent. The official refuses and Gary plays safe while Ronnie still appears slightly bemused.

O’SULLIVAN 5-5 WILSON (0-22)

Ronnie shakes his head and offers a rueful smile as he leaves an obvious plant on to the right corner following an attempt to play safe to the left of baulk.
Wilson rockets it away but doesn’t get the run of the cue ball he wanted despite spreading a chunk of the pack.
He spies a tricky pink to middle left and comes up trumps with the execution before a yellow up to its home pocket and a fine cut on a red to the bottom right keep him ticking over.
The black and pink are surrounded by reds which means he keeps having to return to mid-table for the blue.
He does a good job until the use of the rest and the extension makes a shunt on a red to bottom left all the more tough. It jiggles with the jaws but pops out and after a run of 22, it’s Ronnie’s turn to try and solve the puzzle of this lay out.

O’SULLIVAN 5-5 WILSON

The seven-time world champion teases a red down to middle right and a tasty cut on a blue up to the yellow pocket seems to settle him down.
He’s not quite found his groove again since that kick in the opening frame of this session, but he moves through the gears here, playing off the blue with the black and pink out of commission.
It’s an unorthodox lay-out with the green glued to the black on its spot and the pink up near the green spot.
O’Sullivan works hard to keep his run going despite the tricky lay out and after missing the cannon to split the black and green via an explosive pot on the yellow, he comes up with a maverick double on the red up to the green pocket. It’s not a fluke and he moves into Wilson needing snookers territory before failing with a double on the brown.
Wilson clears up to the pink and looks to lay his trap. It’s looking unlikely for the World No.13 now, but he’s ready to tests O’Sullivan’s desire and appetite for a lengthy stand-off – until he fouls on the pink and realises the game is up!
All square at five apiece.

O’SULLIVAN 4-5 WILSON (9-24)

Ouch. It was feeling like Wilson had the ascendancy but a shocker of a miss on the brown gifts Ronnie a foul and keeps this frame firmly in the balance.

O’SULLIVAN 4-5 WILSON (5-23)

Ronnie decides to take on a tough red to corner left and produces a lovely pot but even a magnificent fluke can’t keep him on track as a long blue to the green pocket misses by some distance.

O’SULLIVAN 4-5 WILSON (0-23)

The Rocket tries to clip a red near the right corner and is left frowning in dismay as a couple of ricochets leave the cue ball in the centre of the table and a sitter of a pot on to the right pocket.
Wilson easily pops it down and takes care of some routine pots before deep screw off a pot on the yellow to its own pocket doesn’t quite generate the power required to split the pack.
O'Sullivan can't wrestle any momentum his way and it's The Tyneside Terror who knocks in another red to the left corner before retreating baulk once more.

O’SULLIVAN 4-5 WILSON

O’Sullivan can’t follow suit and leaves the final red open.
Wilson duly rolls it into the pocket and a couple of colours seal the frame, which he then concludes with a confident 33 clearance.

O’SULLIVAN 4-4 WILSON (40-60)

Wilson lines up a long red up to the green pocket and pulls off a beauty of a pot to begin his attempt at the steal. He holds the cue ball perfectly to prey upon a series of red-black combos to take the lead on the board before facing the challenge of the final two reds close to either cushion.
He makes fine use of the blue to take on the penultimate red down the left rail and executes his pot with aplomb, but he doesn’t get the cannon he wants on to the final red tight to the lower right cushion via a pot on the black, and opts for safety by retreating to baulk following a run of 60.

O’SULLIVAN 4-4 WILSON (40-0)

It’s a very cagey start to the evening with both players producing some excellent safety.
Wilson has a couple of lovely, inadvertent nudges off colours up in baulk, but Ronnie still engineers the first opening with a thin cut on a red to middle left. He follows with a yellow down to the opposite corner and he’s able to work his way down to black.
A tricky red due to some precarious cueing over the pack is clipped to the corner left and he maintains position by playing off the blue and then the pink.
A clinical black allows him to cannon back into the pack and it looks like the frame is within sight, but he gets an almighty, unexpected kick trying to cut a red to the left corner and comes unstuck. Lifeline for Wilson!

Show time

The Rocket and The Tyneside Terror are given a warm Manchester evening welcome and after the intros it's straight to business.

Good evening

Hello and welcome back to our coverage of the first semi final from the 2024 Tour Championship.
It's finely poised heading into the evening session with Ronnie O'Sullivan and Gary Wilson tied at 4-4.
The boys are at the baulk from 19.00 BST.

----------------------------------------------

Moment of the match

At the time, it looked like the foul call on Wilson that decided the sixth frame could be fatal. But it actually had the opposite effect, Wilson produced by far his two best breaks of the day to claw his way back into the match and it's wonderfully tantalising right now!

Match perfectly poised

We couldn't be leaving this any better could we? It's all tied up heading into the evening session, Wilson took a two-frame lead before O'Sullivan won four on the trot and threatened to run away with it. All credit to the Tyneside Terror though, he refocused superbly and brought it back to 4-4.

WILSON 4-4 O’SULLIVAN (84-30)

And Wilson does it! He didn't always make it easy for himself, taking safe shots early to build momentum that left him up against later on but a thin red as he passed O'Sullivan's total unlocked the table and from there he never looked back. The crowd can't help but applaud him, that's a sensational comeback.

WILSON 3-4 O’SULLIVAN (12-30)

O'Sullivan needed to break up the red cluster and screwed the cue sharply, but was still left with a tough double that he couldn't sink and Wilson quickly follows up with two red-blue strikes.

WILSON 3-4 O’SULLIVAN (0-1)

The crowd lent their support to Wilson for a frame there after that potential injustice but they're now firmly back behind O'Sullivan as he gets us underway for the final battle of the session.
The Rocket misses an agonising red and then misses again as it doubles back across the bottom but he makes no mistake a second time after Wilson strikes the middle left jaw.

WILSON 3-4 O’SULLIVAN (83-0)

Wilson looked the model of composure throughout that frame, there were a couple of shots that seemed set to hang on the edge of the pocket but both dropped in and Wilson never looked back for his best break of the day!

WILSON 2-4 O’SULLIVAN (54-0)

Well well well... That's lit a fire under Wilson and he's now scored his most points in a frame since the second. However, he's had to push up the table to reposition, this green pot will be crucial...

WILSON 2-4 O’SULLIVAN (0-0)

The debates continue with O'Sullivan asking whether a replay could be used, but it's a vociferous reception for Wilson as he steps up to start frame seven.

WILSON 2-4 O’SULLIVAN (40-80)

Wow. Wilson had potted a red in that foul too so the frame turns on such a marginal decision. O'Sullivan easily gets over the line and it's 4-2 but Wilson MUST get that out of his head now and avoid sinking into a fatal hole before the end of the afternoon session.

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (40-63)

That's a huge call!! The referee adjudges that Wilson fouled on the pink, the Tyneside Terror argues his case but to no avail and O'Sullivan gets six points. It soon goes even worse though, Wilson attempts to safety a red down the table but it kisses the blue and sets up an easy pot...

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (40-57)

He squeezes a huge red through on the bottom and the break continues! Wilson is still alive just about, but he's left the red touching pink.

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (1-57)

So you're saying there's a chance? O'Sullivan turns the a red into the jaws off the spider and it's an absolutely vital opportunity for Wilson...

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (0-36)

There's a momentary pause as O'Sullivan calls for the cue ball to be cleaned, but that respite is all-too-brief for Wilson. O'Sullivan cannons a red clear of the before continuing to clear up...

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (0-11)

That's not what he needed. There's shades of that blue nick in the fourth frame as this time Wilson misses the white. O'Sullivan plays a long safety to keep the pressure on, Wilson takes over back in the baulk. And when it rains it pours, he almost doubled a red back across the bottom and into the right but instead it hangs on the jaws and Ronnie is back at the table.

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (0-0)

We're into the sixth, Wilson played aggressively in the first two frames but was still accurate, he's just lost that more recently and the Rocket isn't making the same mistakes either. It's now 309-19 over the last three frames and this one starts with a safety battle.

WILSON 2-3 O’SULLIVAN (18-110)

And THAT'S why he was frustrated. The Tyneside Terror can only look on pensively, as O'Sullivan calmly clears up the table. It looked like he might've got into trouble at the halfway stage as he couldn't screw the cue back enough for a shot on the pink, but cut clear dismissively and proceeded to work in and out of the baulk to round out his second century.

WILSON 2-2 O’SULLIVAN (18-0)

It was a nervy start but Wilson gets the first points on the board with a straight red and pink. He was building the the break so nicely but bridging over a red, he turns the black into the jaws and bangs his cue one... two... three... FOUR times into the ground in frustration!

BACK UNDERWAY

Wilson gets us started, there's four more frames before we take our interlude and come back at 19:00 GMT.

2-2 AT THE QUARTER MARK

The first two frames were absolute slugfests that Wilson claimed 133-92 overall but the Rocket shifted up the gears to bring it back level at a 199-1 aggregate. The break's coming at the right time for the Tyneside Terror and he has largely taken his opportunities hence the 2-2 score.
Mark Selby's just cleared up ITV's Reverse Colour Challenge, he got it in 33 seconds which while commendable, isn't even enough for the top three - which includes Wilson.

WILSON 2-2 O’SULLIVAN (1-97)

And just like that we're level again. O'Sullivan makes swift work of the red cluster before cannoning the final one up the table to continue his break from mid-range and is only prevented from clearing up by his yellow bouncing out of the jaws top-left.

WILSON 2-1 O’SULLIVAN (1-53)

What a costly error that is. We knew O'Sullivan would find his feet eventually but Wilson didn't need to help him quite so much. O'Sullivan gives himself breathing space on the baulk before turning back down the table and heading for 2-2... Or so it seemed! He powers the brown into the jaws of the top right, Wilson can't take advantage though missing his own shot on a red corner.

WILSON 2-1 O’SULLIVAN (1-5)

The second frame last 27 minutes, the third barely didn't even reach double figures. What will we get this time? Wilson will get the opening salvo and just be pleased to return to the table, cutting a red to get on the board before scarping with a well-hit safety.
But he then skims the blue to give O'Sullivan back the table with a red on. That hard-built two-frame lead could vanish in the blink of an eye here...

WILSON 2-1 O’SULLIVAN (0-102)

The crowd are on their feet and for good reason, this is what they came so see! O'Sullivan had housework to do early, freeing up the black spot with a series of cannons and from there it's just glorious, he knocks in six pinks including a wondrous thin, two blues and six blacks to rack up the first century of the day!

WILSON 2-0 O’SULLIVAN (0-1)

The delivery of the Wilson's cue left an awful lot to be desired, it was tight whether he could get through but he convinced himself he could... And he couldn't allowing O'Sullivan to break into the lead.

WILSON 2-0 O’SULLIVAN (0-0)

The F1's going on in Japan this weekend but we've just had our own pit stop of sorts! A pocket had dropped on the table but they're able to fix it within a commercial break so we're immediately back to business in the third frame.

WILSON 2-0 O’SULLIVAN (62-44)

And he does! It's a two-frame lead but that means there's still 17 to go and this match is far from over...

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (44-44)

Wilson applies way too much mustard to a double and it nudges the black in that had been hanging on the bottom-left. But somehow Wilson then banks the white in himself! It's back-to-back fouls that leave Wilson with the opportunity to claim a frame that's been far from perfect.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (40-38)

It's a fascinating safety battle to decide what's been a somewhat scrappy frame. Wilson almost banks a red in to start the break but instead pots the black and O'Sullivan takes the lead... Until offering the Tyneside Terror a red he can't refuse straight after.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (33-33)

It's a fascinating safety battle to decide what's been a somewhat scrappy frame. Wilson almost banks a red in to start the break but instead pots the black and O'Sullivan takes the lead... Until offering the Tyneside Terror a red he can't refuse straight after.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (32-26)

The initial table didn't look up to much with the blue, pink and black out of position. But O'Sullivan's patient, using the baulk colours as a stepping stone before oh-so-nearly edging the red onto the black spot to ease congestion at the bottom.
He can never truly break out but another expertly thin red lets him add ten more to his break and leave an uncomfortable safety.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (32-0)

It's finer margins that Wilson's miss but the Rocket has still let an opportunity go begging. With the three high-value balls out of position he needed to pull the white back to the bottom of the table and did so - but missed potting red in the process and Wilson needs no second invitation.
He doesn't stay too long at the party though, going red-green but leaving his second red too thick.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (28-0)

A good start and a disappointing end. Wilson mixed it up a bit more favouring the blue and spent a long time sizing up how to cannon the six-red triangle that hadn't moved from the break shot.
His attempt misses by a mile though and he somewhat rushes the safety to end the break.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (1-0)

Wilson was oh-so-close to opening his account in the second frame, but his mid-range shot grazed the near jaw of the pocket. O'Sullivan can't capitalise, firing his attempt just wide and we're back to Wilson working the pink-red combo.

WILSON 1-0 O’SULLIVAN (71-48)

And Wilson sees it out. O'Sullivan managed to snooker him once but there was plenty of baize to play with on a long pink and Wilson navigates it, before returning the favour and the Rocket pockets the white to concede the frame. 1-0!

WILSON 0-0 O’SULLIVAN (67-48)

It's that dastardly pink again! A superb recovery from Wilson saw him double out of trouble needing to work up the table and he thins the yellow before speeding through the green, brown and blue. He jaws the pink top-right though so O'Sullivan returns needing one snooker.

WILSON 0-0 O’SULLIVAN (29-48)

O'Sullivan was streaking through this first frame with ease, hanging on the bottom of the table before screwing the white back into a red cluster and dealing with it masterfully, effortlessly. However, he also misses the pink on a corner jaw throwing Wilson a lifeline.

WILSON 0-0 O’SULLIVAN (29-0)

It was looking like a good nerve-settler for the underdog, clocking four red-pink combos but he thins the pink too much looking to complete his fifth and O'Sullivan takes over an enticing table.

WILSON 0-0 O’SULLIVAN (1-0)

Both players are denied by the jaws (middle-right for Wilson, bottom-left for O'Sullivan) before the Tyneside Terror finally gets on the scoreboad.

WILSON 0-0 O’SULLIVAN (0-0)

It's a cagey start, Wilson plays the first shot and O'Sullivan simply returns the ball to the top of the table. The Rocket displaces the yellow has he breaks out the clustered reds but we're still scoreless as Wilson takes over for his third go.

The players are out!

Ronnie is rocking a similar beige-and-black outfit to last time while the Tyneside Terror is all business from the front, but a very snazzy design on his back.

Who will prevail?

It's two mouthwatering matchups coming up, and a reminder that this is just the starter with the World Championship coming up very soon. Ronnie O'Sullivan has already confirmed himself as the world number one heading the Crucible though, after dismantling Ali Carter in the quarter-final.

Tour Championship Staying in Manchester

We've not even finished this year yet, but we already know that the Tour Championship will be returning to Manchester next year! Tickets go on sale on Monday (April 8th), and we're been treated to some advertisment between then and now. WST’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Tom Rowell said:
We were expecting a great week at Manchester Central and it has exceeded all expectations.
"The feedback from players and fans has been outstanding, the arena has been packed for most of the week and we’re looking forward to a great final weekend.
“This is part of our strategy to bring the World Snooker Tour to high quality venues across the UK, particularly for our biggest events like the Tour Championship. The atmosphere inside the arena has been superb, and spectators have also enjoyed the new activations in Fanzone."

Hello and Welcome!

Good afternoon and thanks for joining us for today's semi-final action in the Tour Championship! First up we've got a Best of 19 matchup between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Gary Wilson, the first 8 frames begin in 15 minutes, then we'll it pick up again this evening at 19:00 GMT! Oh and did we mention the Mark-off tomorrow, Williams v Allen at the same times?

O'Sullivan on 'driving himself insane' in bid to find form

Ronnie O'Sullivan produced a cue ball clinic in a 10-2 dismissal of old foe Ali Carter in the quarter-finals of the Tour Championship before a packed Manchester Central audience on Wednesday.
But he revealed how hard it has been to "find some form" this campaign.
"It's been a hard year. I've drove myself insane really trying to find some form, but I just have to accept it," said the 41-time ranking event winner, who faces Gary Wilson in Friday's first semi-final at the prestigious 12-man event.
"I have to accept how I play. That's life. You can't be perfect all the time. Trying to be perfect all the time is not ideal, so I just have to get my head around it.
"That's the only option I have left. I've driven myself mad for the past two years, and I've not enjoyed any of it."
