The Australian stormed to a four frame lead over Hendry and recorded a career best tournament break of 140 in the process. Ken Doherty was another shock casualty as he lost 5-3 to world number 16 Stephen Maguire. The young Scotsman was made to work hard for his win as Doherty drew level three times but in the end was unable to progress to the next round.
