The Australian stormed to a four frame lead over Hendry and recorded a career best tournament break of 140 in the process. But Robertson was made to sweat for his victory after Hendry won three successive frames to make the score 4-3. In the seventh frame order was restored and Robertson progressed to the last 16.
Ken Doherty was another shock casualty as he lost 5-3 to world number 16 Stephen Maguire. The young Scotsman was made to work hard for his win as Doherty drew level three times but in the end was unable to progress to the next round.
Allister Carter came from three frames down to win 5-4 in an exciting match against Nigel Bond. Carter showed tremendous guts to turn around the match after Bond was seemingly coasting to victory. But Andrew Higginson progressed without a worry as he stormed to a comfortable 5-1 win over Michael Judge.
