Ding Junhui fought back to beat Joe Perry 4-2 to progress to the fourth round of the Welsh Open.
'The Gentleman', the 2015 Players Champion, opened with runs of 84 and 127 but the match turned on a tactical frame three, which the world number eight Ding won on the black.
The 31-year-old Ding, a 13-time ranking title winner, reeled off the next three frames courtesy of runs of 71, 52 and 98 to set up a fourth-round showdown against Joe O’Connor, who overcame Jak Jones 4-1 in a low quality affair.
Elsewhere, Duane Jones, who shocked Masters champion Judd Trump 4-2 in round two, saw his run brought to an impromptu end by Robbie Williams.
Williams, 32, produced runs of 73 and 125 in a dominant display, and will face the winner of Stuart Bingham and Martin O’Donnell in the next round.
