The next two weeks see the biggest of the Triple Crown events crown a new winner of the World Snooker Championship for the 2023 edition.
For the 47th consecutive season, the event comes live from the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
Ronnie O’Sullivan arrives as the current champion after defeating Judd Trump 18-13 in last season’s final, and he will hope to spark his season into life with another triumph.

The 2023 World Snooker Championship begins on Friday, April 15, and runs until Monday, May 1. It takes place at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

Tournament format

The initial qualifiers took place between April 3-12 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, involving 128 professional and amateur players.
The main draw gets underway as the round of 32 begins on Friday 15 with 16 qualifiers joining the top-16 ranked professionals.
The first round is best-of-19 frames, the second round and quarter-finals are best-of-25, the semi-finals are best-of-33, and the final is best-of-35.
