He certainly left it late, but Judd Trump pulled off a magnificent double on the black to end the eighth frame of his quarter-final against Jak Jones at the World Snooker Championship in style. Trump had been behind for much of the session, but he managed to roar back to get back on terms by the close, winning the final frame after needing a snooker.

'What a shot!' - Trump nails stunning double to clinch crucial frame

Judd Trump executed a quite stunning double on the black to clinch the session-ending frame in dramatic fashion against Jak Jones at the World Snooker Championship on Tuesday afternoon.
Jones performed superbly well to get himself in a strong position in the quarter-final, and he could well have assumed a two-frame lead ahead of the evening's play had he not faltered at a crucial moment leading 4-3 and 63-52 at the very end of the morning session.
A surprising miss on the pink from the Welshman left him scratching his head as he trudged back to his chair, while for Trump it was a timely reprieve - and one he ruthlessly capitalised on.
First, he had to sink a tricky long red into the corner pocket, and he made absolutely no mistake.
Warm applause met that fine shot, but that was just the start as he was left with a very tough double on the black into the middle pocket.
No matter, the Bristolian duly drained the black in emphatic fashion as he received a huge ovation from the fans inside the Crucible Theatre.
In so doing, he drew himself level at the close of the morning session having trailed for most of the match up until that point.

'Incredible' - Trump gets slice of luck as he flukes in red

"He's got it!" roared Dave Hendon, on commentary for Eurosport at the time. "What a shot from Judd Trump to end the session!
"Jak Jones looked certain to lead 5-3 but Judd Trump doubles the final black and they are all square at 4-4 coming back tonight.
"A very dramatic session and Jones has to be disappointed that he is not two frames in front."
It could well prove to be the defining shot of the match for Trump if he can now kick on in the evening session as the 34-year-old looks for that elusive second world title after his debut crown in 2019.
