The World Mixed Doubles is back as snooker's top men and women link up in teams to compete against each other in Manchester in one of the sport's more unique events. ‘Superb break’ - Robertson makes ninth century of tournament in World Open semi-final against Ding

22:30 - THANK YOU AND GOODBYE

That's it for the World Mixed Doubles that wrap up with a new pair of champions. Thank you for your company through the championship. The next event on the snooker calendar is the Tour Championship, starting tomorrow in this very arena in Manchester. See you around for that!

22:25 - LUCA BRECEL POST-MATCH

'I parked my car in the wrong place and it got taken away, so I had to go and get it just before the final and then it was just about in time I got back here. Crazy story! But luckily I made it in time. I started of well and played a bit better than before, but still not good enough; well, good enough to win, but still not happy with the way we played, I guess Reanne will say the same. But really happy to win, it's a great tournament.
I was already feeling much better in my game the last few months and this helps a lot, obviously, this title. I'm now really looking forward to Sheffield.'

22:21 - REANNE EVANS POST-MATCH

'[It's] most definitely [special] - 22 years to play on TV and win a final. I know Luca carried me a little bit, and if I had known, I'd have towed his car right at the start of yesterday if he played like that! I've been playing a long time and it's fantastic to be lifting a trophy and play in a final like this alongside all these great players and the crowd have been fantastic as well and I've really enjoyed myself. Yes, we didn't play amazing; we played a little bit better in the final and hopefully we can come back and try again.
Was it the right decision [to stick with snooker rather than swap to pool]? I'm not sure (laughs). No, of course it was! All these titles and playing in these sorts of event and getting the recognition that the women deserve as well and the support from these top players is only going to help the women and help the game. Hopefully it's a lot more to come, bigger and better, always looking and believing in the future.'

22:16 - REBECCA KENNA POST-MATCH

'Not quite the win, so ... Just disappointed, but happy to play with Mark, he's one of the best, so I've enjoyed my time.'

22:14 - MARK SELBY POST-MATCH

'Playing doubles - whether it's mixed doubles or just normal doubles - is always a tough format to try and play well and get any rhythm because you're playing one shot every four and sometimes you don't know who is getting a pot, so you could be sitting around for quite a long time before you get a chance. But I enjoyed it this weekend, it was good. I thought Rebecca played really well; she obviously showed why she's number four in the world, she made some good breaks during the weekend. Disappointed not to win, but to get to the final again was a good achievement.'

BRECEL/EVANS 4-2 SELBY/KENNA

Fourth frame for Brecel/Evans and with that they take the title.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (71-25)

Brecel can't sink blue, but it doesn't matter as the frame is bagged.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (60-25)

Selby does well to open up a red that was sitting against the cushion. He misses pink on the next shot though and leaves Brecel a golden opportunity.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (59-3)

Evans' miss leaves Selby an opener and he converts. The table is looking quite good for him from here.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (59-2)

... but misses said set-up. It's not too bad though as Evans misses the opener in turn.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (59-2)

Very flat angle and very delicate shot, but Kenna sinks an opener in middle left. She has a set-up on yellow.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA (59-1)

It remains the one point for Kenna as she opts for a safety.

Terrific break from Brecel, but it ends here as he misses a long red to top left. He leaves Kenna an opener.

Excellent break building from Brecel and he gets the split on the reds as he pots black and smashed the cue ball against the cushion and back into the stagger.

Incredible opener from Brecel who fires the red against the left cushion and it flies into middle right. He has a set-up on green.

BRECEL/EVANS 3-2 SELBY/KENNA

Longest frame of the final so far by far and Brecel/Evans come out on top. They are one frame away from the title.

Chance for Brecel to pot blue and he makes it. That's the frame now.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (45-26)

Brown just refuses to fall for Evans and comes to rest on the edge of bottom left. Kenna pots but has no position on blue. She leaves Brecel a far from easy but makable shot on top left, but it's not to be.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (45-22)

Indeed, green falls but that's the end of that break. Selby attempt to snooker, but it doesn't quite come off, leaving a safety at least.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (45-19)

Long ball on yellow for top left is available and Selby makes it. Green is easily available, but things will be tricky from there.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (45-17)

Fantastic from Evans who goes via the cushion to find the red and sink it in middle left. She can't continue the break from here though and we're back to safeties.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (44-17)

With the last red nestled against the blue, Evans has no chance to pot. She avoids bringing the blue into play and leaves a decent safety.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (34-17)

Foul and a miss as Selby finds himself snookered. Evans takes over and converts an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (29-17)

Decent break from Brecel, but this is where it ends as he can't get a position on a colour.

End of the road for Evan's break, but she concludes with a decent safety.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA (0-7)

After a long search for an opener, including some errors and misses, Selby finally pots a red. There's a tricky shot on blue available and he makes it to stay at the table.

Kenna with the opener. She has absolutely nowhere to go from here though and opts for a fine safety shot.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-2 SELBY/KENNA

Selby/Kenna equalise after a magnificent break in the fourth frame. All to play for in the last three!

BRECEL/EVANS 2-1 SELBY/KENNA (7-67)

Excellent break building from Selby. He pots pink and that's the frame ball. Nowhere to go from there, but the frame is in the bag.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-1 SELBY/KENNA (7-1)

A bit of scrappy positioning from Brecel and that's enough to force him into an error that leaves Selby an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-1 SELBY/KENNA (1-0)

Opener for Brecel and he has options to go from here.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-1 SELBY/KENNA

What a frame! It looked Brecel/Evans' for the taking before Selby turned the frame on its head. Shock miss from him, but he made his second chance to bring it home count.
The game is wide open at the interval!

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (52-63)

Selby pots pink and bags the frame, making up for the missed blue.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (52-56)

Kenna sinks blue but catches it a fraction thick to lose the position on pink. She misses, but so does Brecel in response.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (52-51)

Kenne makes the snooker with blue behind pink, but Brecel manages.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (52-51)

Incredible scenes as Selby puts all the work in and plays some excellent shots only to miss a routine blue. The good news is that he doesn't leave it in a position to pot.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (52-9)

Kenna has to opt for a safety, but two shots later Selby finds an opener. The table looks very much in his favour.

Some excellent shots there from Evans, but she has to opt for a safety now.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (30-0)

Evans finds an opener and a set-up on yellow from there.

Neat break from Evans, but she runs out of positions. However, she is well prepared to play an excellent safety shot.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA (1-0)

Evans this time with the opener. She should have some options to continue from here.

BRECEL/EVANS 2-0 SELBY/KENNA

Brecel on it again to secure another frame. Worth noting though that his second major break was made possibly by an excellent safety shot from Evans.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (53-19)

Brecel makes the snooker and gets a foul and a miss out of Selby who then concedes.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (49-19)

Brecel sinks yellow but can't make green work. Selby/Kenna need two snooker now to turn the frame around.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (47-19)

That's the end of the road for Brecel's breakk though and Selby/Kenna are searching foul points.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (47-19)

Excellent break with some beautiful shots from Brecel, including an excellent red he sent via the cushion into middle right. He pots a long green and that's the frame ball.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (10-19)

Brecel again with the opener, owed to a magnificent safety shot from Evans that forced Kenna's hand. He has options to go from here.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (9-19)

Unlucky with the positioning, the break is over for Kenna, but she manages to not leave an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (9-16)

Evans fails to put much of a break together as she misses red to bottom right. Kenna takes the invite to pot it instead.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (7-15)

Green refuses to fall for Selby and Evans steps up to capitalise. She has a nice set-up on yellow as well.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (6-1)

Miss now though from Brecel on a long blue. Worse so, he leaves Selby an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA (1-0)

It took almost 10 minutes to find an opener, but a slight error from Kenna allows Brecel to pull off a tricky shot to middle left. He has options from here as well.

BRECEL/EVANS 1-0 SELBY/KENNA

What a start from Brecel who makes two excellent breaks and wraps the first frame up in around 10 minutes.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-0 SELBY/KENNA (111-0)

Brecel clears the table and that's the first frame.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-0 SELBY/KENNA (58-0)

BRECEL/EVANS 0-0 SELBY/KENNA (54-0)

Great break from Brecel with some excellent shots. He's forced into a safety now and in fact makes it a snooker. Selby is up to the challenge though.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-0 SELBY/KENNA (1-0)

Quick opener from Brecel who executes a very long red and has a set-up on black.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-0 SELBY/KENNA

The players are in the arena and we are ready to go. It's Selby/Kenna to break.

Not the best control of the cue ball from Kenna and she has no position on red. She misses but at least doesn't leave an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-3 SELBY/KENNA (48-5)

Great break from Evans up until now, but she misses a routine brown on top right out of nowhere. Worse so, she leaves Kenna an opener.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-3 SELBY/KENNA (10-4)

Not sure if it was entirely intentional, but Evans opens things up and a red finds its way into middle left. She has some options from here.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-3 SELBY/KENNA (9-4)

Very nice opener from Brecel, but it doesn't give him a position for anything. Safety it is.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-2 SELBY/KENNA (1-0)

Evans finds an opener and has a set-up on blue.

BRECEL/EVANS 0-2 SELBY/KENNA

Loads of foul points in this one, but they all count and Selby/Kenna take the frame. That takes them to six frames total and they are guaranteed a place in the final courtesy of a higher break than Trump/Baipat.

TRUMP/BAIPAT 3-0 ROBERTSON/MINK (5-0)

Nice opener from Baipat, but it results in a touching ball. The moves the cue ball by the slightest margin and has Robertson snookered behind yellow central at the top of the table. She gets a foul out of him.

TRUMP/BAIPAT 3-0 ROBERTSON/MINK

Something must have clicked in Trump after that excellent opener in the second frame and he's been playing magnificently since. Highest break of the tournament to secure a third frame in this match.

Miss on red for Trump and the century is not to be, but the frame goes to Trump/Baipat.

12:45 - HELLO AND WELCOME

Good afternoon and welcome back to our live text coverage from the World Mixed Doubles 2024.
It's crunch time in Manchester with one more round robin session ahead before the champions will be crowned in the final tonight. Judd Trump and Baipat Siripaporn are up against Neil Robertson and Mink Nutcharut in the first feature match before overall leaders Luca Brecel and Reanne Evans are facing Mark Selby and Rebecca Kenna.

Brecel and Evans top mixed doubles standings with win over Trump and Baipat

The first of the two evening matches in the World Mixed Doubles saw Luca Brecel and Reanne Evans overcome Judd Trump and Baipat Siripaporn with a 3-1 victory in Manchester. The win leaves them top of the standings.
Brecel produced the highest break of the match in the opening frame - a 42 - as he and Evans opened up a one-frame advantage, but after a second frame that saw both teams pass on opportunities to win it, the 2023 women's world champion Baipat rocketed red into the middle to restore parity at one-frame each.
A smart Brecel snooker in the next put him and Evans in the ascendancy, and the 12-time women's world champion Evans wrapped the frame up when she pocketed the final red.
Trump and Baipat again dug in in the next. However, they were unable to send the match to a decider as Brecel and Evans managed to win a marathon, safety-laden 50-minute fourth frame to move top of the standings ahead of Sunday's play.
