China's Lyu Haotian pulled off a sublime shot but was brought crashing down to earth when he was missed a straightforward yellow, as he crashed out to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the World Open. Eurosport's Neal Foulds described his excellent effort on the red as the "shot of the day" but moments later described his mistake as the "miss of the week". O'Sullivan would advance on a 5-2 scoreline.

'Shot of the match... miss of the week!' - ups and downs for Haotian against O'Sullivan

Lyu Haotian is out of the World Open following a 5-2 defeat to Ronnie O'Sullivan - but he will be left wondering what might have been having followed up the "pot of the day" with a contender for "miss of the week".
'The Rocket' secured his place in the last 16, making four half-centuries as well as a ton, to set up a meeting with Hossein Vafaei.
But the seven-time world champion will acknowledge that he had benefitted from good fortune along the way - most notably Lyu's extraordinary miss on what was a straightforward yellow.
In the sixth frame, with the score delicately poised at 3-2 in O’Sullivan’s favour, Lyu appeared to be building a head of steam when he executed what Eurosport's Dave Hendon described as “shot of the match”.
With the red close to pink and black, Lyu cued superbly to find the bottom right corner pocket, leaving Neal Foulds equally impressed.
“Yeah, beautiful shot, I agree," he said. "Very well struck, the cue ball was very well behaved. He’s on the black perfectly for yellow.”
Down went the black and indeed, he was positioned perfectly on the yellow. Then came the “miss of the week”, according to Foulds as the ball rattled off the jaws, refusing to go down.
"Shot of the day followed by the miss of the week," Foulds said, in disbelief at what he had just witnessed.
It proved to be the key moment in the match, as O'Sullivan proceeded to wrap up the frame and take the next two to secure victory.
