Ramona Theresia Hofmeister of Germany soared to her fourth World Cup victory of the season with gold in Krynica. She earned her fifth podium finish of the season with a dominant display, strengthening her place at the top of the World Cup overall standings. Hofmeister, an Olympic bronze medallist, beat the Swiss Julie Zogg to claim gold. In the men's event, Andreas Prommegger took gold.

Hofmeister storms to parallel giant slalom gold in Krynica

Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister soared to her fourth World Cup victory of the season with gold in Krynica.

The win secured the snowboarder's fifth overall podium and first parallel giant slalom win since December.

Hofmeister, who won bronze in the event at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics, beat Switzerland's Julie Zogg in the big final to cement her place at the top of the overall World Cup standings.

“It’s unbelievable," Hofmeister said. "The race was so tight. It was not easy today; the conditions were tough. But thank you Poland for a great race.

"I am excited for tomorrow. I think it was my 20th World Cup victory today, so it feels really, really good."

Netherlands' Michelle Dekker clinched bronze after beating Austria's Daniela Ulbing in the small final in Poland.

In the men's event, Austria's Andreas Prommegger won his first parallel giant slalom World Cup of the season with victory over Italy's Roland Fischnaller.

Prommegger, 43, sits second in the overall World Cup rankings behind fellow countryman Benjamin Karl who finished seventh in Poland.

It was an Italian silver and bronze as Daniele Bagozza won the small final and denied Austria's Fabian Obmann a fourth bronze of the season.
