Just two-hundredths of a second separated Canada and the Netherlands in the men's team sprint as the hosts triumphed at the ISU World Speed Skating Single Distances Championships in Calgary.
The team of Anders Johnson, Laurent Dubreuil and Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu posted a time of 1:17.173, with the Netherlands' Janno Botman, Jenning de Boo and Tim Prins having to settle for silver.
Norway, comprising Henrik Fagerli Rukke, Bjorn Magnussen and Haavard Holmefjord Lorentzen, claimed the bronze having raced against Canada, finishing 0.14 seconds behind the hosts in Calgary and edging out China by 0.1 seconds.
The men's triumph followed Canada's women's win in their team sprint as Carolina Hiller, Maddison Pearman and Ivanie Blondin took gold.
They beat out rivals the United States, winning by 0.9 seconds in a time of 1:25.14 as the USA's Sarah Warren, Erin Jackson and Brittany Bowe claimed silver.
The two teams had raced against each other in the second race of the final while bronze medallists Poland beat out the Netherlands in their race, as Andzelika Wojcik, Iga Wojtasik and Karolina Bosiek claimed third.
In the men's 5000m, Patrick Roest of the Netherlands defended his title in an all-European podium as Davide Ghiotto of Italy and Sander Eitrem completed the podium with Roest leading the entire race.
His Dutch counterpart, Irene Schouten was equally dominant in the women's 3000m leading from the front as she won in a time of 3:57.10 to upgrade last year's silver to gold.
Canada's Isabelle Weideman finished 0.91 seconds back to win silver as Martina Sabilkova of the Czech Republic claimed bronze.
